Great Day Potomac Community!
Hello Panther Families,
I cannot believe we are already entering our fourth week of school! That means we are halfway through the first marking period. Time is certainly flying by, and we appreciate all you are doing to support a successful start to the school year.
Please take time to regularly check ParentVUE and review your student's academic progress with them. We also ask that you complete and update your student's Back-to-School Packet, as all packets must be submitted by September 15, 2026.
Parents, I also need your assistance in ensuring students arrive at school and get to class on time each day. Our goal is to have all 2,114 Panthers present and ready to learn every day. This week, we conducted our first tardy sweep and found that 142 students were not in class on time. While that number is concerning, the good news is that the overwhelming majority of our students were exactly where they were supposed to be and ready to learn. Together, we can continue improving attendance and punctuality so that every student maximizes their learning opportunities.
Finally, if you have not already done so, I strongly encourage you to purchase the iPad insurance that was shared with families a few weeks ago. Since the start of the school year, four students have reported lost devices. Families are responsible for replacing lost iPads at a cost of $300-500, while the insurance costs only $30. Purchasing the insurance can provide peace of mind and help avoid unexpected replacement costs. You can find purchasing information on our school website https://potomachs.pwcs.edu
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we will ensure that every Panther is prepared, present, and positioned for success.
Pursue. Persist. Prevail.
Warm regards,
Stacy Norwood

Library controls
Parents/guardians in Prince William County Public Schools receive a daily email of student-selected print library materials checked out, renewed, or returned by their student each day. These automated emails are sent to the primary parent/guardian email address, which is the first emergency contact designated by parents/guardians in the Annual Back to School Packet, ensuring you stay informed about your student’s reading activities. This feature will be activated for all PWCS students. If the student does not physically check out, renew, or return a book on that day, no email will be sent. In addition, the PWCS library management systems allow parents to connect to their child’s school library catalogs through an “Additional User Type” and/or “Parent Controls” system to designate restrictions on student-selected materials.
Please note: Restriction of library materials is a parent's responsibility. Librarians and school administrators can provide the links but cannot provide support within the systems.
Please visit the Parent Library Controls webpage for more information on available Parent Library Controls.
