Dear LPS Families,

It has been another busy and exciting week at LPS, and we are looking ahead to many meaningful opportunities for students as we move into the final weeks of the school year.

This week, students enjoyed the opportunity to learn through the Indigenous Peoples Atlas visit at LPS. The activities and experiences provided students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the land we live on, Indigenous perspectives, and the connections between people, place, and community. It was wonderful to see students engaged, curious, and asking thoughtful questions throughout the week.

We are also excited to officially announce Landing Trail’s Third Annual Summer Festival, which will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Landing Trail School. This will be LPS’s second year participating in this community event, and we are looking forward to another fun-filled day together. Families and siblings are invited to attend. More detailed information, including schedules, maps, activities, and volunteer opportunities, will be shared next week, but we wanted families to save the date now as planning continues. We are incredibly grateful to Landing Trail’s PIA, community sponsors, volunteers, and staff who help make events like this possible for our students and families.

Next week, students in Grades 1–6 will also participate in our Bike Safety program. To participate, students are asked to bring their own bike or scooter and a properly fitting helmet, as helmets are required for all participants. This is a great opportunity for students to build confidence and learn important safety skills while riding. If a student does not have the necessary equipment, they will remain at the school and participate in alternative activities during their scheduled Bike Safety time. We appreciate your support in helping ensure students are prepared for this exciting learning opportunity.

As we continue through these final months together, many events, activities, and important updates are being shared. Please continue to check your email regularly and review the weekly newsletter to stay informed.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We continue to appreciate the strong sense of community that exists at LPS and look forward to the weeks ahead together.

With gratitude,

Louise Loh, Principal

Connected Moments: Building Strong Kids in Small Ways Connected Moments: Building Strong Kids in Small Ways

At school, we focus on helping students build the skills they need to manage emotions, solve problems, and build positive relationships. Across the division, our Unplugged approach encourages small, intentional moments of connection throughout the day. These same simple strategies at home can help create consistency for children and support their growth in confidence, independence, and resilience.

Connected Moment
Allow small frustrations instead of removing them.

Try This at Home

  • Acknowledge: “That’s frustrating.”

  • Avoid fixing the situation right away

  • Encourage another attempt

Why This Matters
Frustration is part of learning. When children work through it, they build persistence and are better prepared to handle bigger challenges later on.

Staying Connected & Reporting Absences Staying Connected & Reporting Absences

Please note that our school offices will remain closed until August 18.

Starting August 18, all school-related calls and inquiries can be directed to our Administrative Assistant at Landing Trail School by calling 780-923-2898. This number will now serve as the main contact for all school communication, including urgent matters.

Reporting Student Absences
You can report your child's absence in one of two ways:

  1. Call the school at 780-923-2898, or

  2. Use our new online absence reporting tool:

    • Simply complete the online form by clicking here: https://forms.gle/XMpTWzG2wEWF7mgS8 – no phone call is required.

    • A confirmation email will be sent once your child’s absence has been successfully reported.
