Doc Talk
Greetings, Phoenix!
We are at the end of Week 1 in Hexter 3.
It's hard to believe that we've already completed 13 weeks of this school year.
We know that this time of year is a time of celebration and when traditions and routines become more important than ever. Please make sure we are staying consistent with academic and attendance expectations as we move through the remainder of this hexter.
This is a reminder that there is no school for students on Wednesday, November 11th. It is a teacher workday.
Family engagement night is currently being planned. Be on the lookout for information soon!
Thank you all for the work you put in to make Discovery THE place to be!🔥
~Dr. Wiggins

Classroom Spotlight
Botany with Mrs. Thomas!
In Mrs. Thomas' Botany class, students are testing whether sprout seeds will grow quicker with coffee or vinegar, or with more light or more shade. Students test these models by applying coffee or vinegar to a paper towel, adding the seeds, and sealing them in a Ziploc bag. It will be interesting to see how the seeds react to the different conditions as the Hexter moves forward!
DAAC Meeting Shout-Outs
Shout out to StanLee, Haidee, and Zay for representing Discovery at the DAAC (District Advisory & Accountability Committee) Meeting last night! They were the first to speak, and they did an amazing job sharing the Discovery experience with everyone. We appreciate you!😀
Do you want to represent Discovery at future DAAC meetings? See Dr. Wiggins to get involved!

Students will be going to the Denver Art Museum on Friday, December 11, for Phoenix Day! Turn your permission slips in to Mrs. Flores.

Families of 2027 Graduating Seniors,
If your student is looking at attending a community college, 4 year college/university, trade school or any learning institution after graduation, please know that completing the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Colorado Application for Student Aid (CAFSA) is an important step to help your student finance attending these institutions. Many of these schools require the application to offer scholarships through their institutions.
Completing the FAFSA will also apply to possible Federal grants, work study programs or loans that can assist your student in meeting their educational goals. Please know that after completing the application, you will receive financial aid information that you can choose to accept or decline.
Please find a resource that includes videos that may help you complete the FAFSA forms and direct links to the applications. The sooner you complete the application the better.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Shea.
