MS Readathon – Celebrating a Love of Reading
Well done to all the boys and girls taking part in our MS Readathon this November. The teachers have been really impressed with how enthusiastically the children have engaged with this initiative.
We have also been increasing our DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read) in classrooms this month. Both teachers and pupils have really enjoyed taking a moment out of a busy day to relax, pick up a book, and get lost in reading.
Well done to all the children—not only for showing such a wonderful love of reading, but also to those who may not usually see themselves as avid readers and who have given this hobby extra time and effort throughout the month. Your participation is helping to raise much-needed funds for MS, and we are very proud of you all.

Core Values for this Month - Empathy/ Kindness to Others.
Over the months of November and December, we will be focusing on the core values of Empathy & Kindness to Others. We hope that by focusing on these values, we can help to create a positive and inclusive school environment, enhancing students' overall well-being. Importantly, raising the children's awareness and understanding of empathy can help to prevent bullying and conflict by encouraging understanding and tolerance among each other. We would encourage you to speak at home with your child about these values and praise them when they demonstrate empathy and kindness to others.
Sixth Class Confirmation Preparation
Well done to all the Sixth Class boys and girls who attended their first Preparation Mass in Dangan Church last Sunday. During the Mass, they shared their chosen Confirmation names with the parish community and took part in the Prayers of the Faithful. We are very proud of their participation and look forward to supporting them on their Confirmation journey.
🚸 Road Safety Reminder
We’d like to remind all parents and children to take extra care at school opening and closing times.
Please remind your child to always wait for the pedestrian green light and to look left and right before crossing. While the road ramps are helping to slow down traffic, there are still ongoing concerns about careless drivers.
It’s so important that children never become complacent and always remain alert. We also ask parents who are dropping off or collecting to continue exercising extreme caution and patience to help keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping our school community safe.

Mini 7s:
Well done to our 6th Class girls on their fantastic performances at the Mini 7s tournament in Ratoath. The team played two great games—winning one and narrowly losing the other—and showed wonderful teamwork, effort, and school spirit throughout.
A super performance by all involved!
Cross Country
Cross Country try outs have been taking place in school. Well done to everyone that took part and tried their best. The students that qualified will take part in the Cross Country competition on Wednesday 19th November in Fairyhouse. Further details to follow.
Gymnastics / Karate with School Fitness Ireland
The children have begun their karate and gymnastics lessons with Liam from School Fitness Ireland. They have been thoroughly enjoying their sessions, and Liam has been very impressed with both their skills and their excellent behaviour.
Well done to all the boys and girls!
Supporting your Child's School Attendance -Advice from Tusla
How Parents Can Help Make
Every School Day Count: (Advice from Tusla)
- Establish a good routine in the mornings and evenings so your child is prepared for the school day ahead.
- Make sure your child goes to school regularly and follows the school rules.
- Ensure your child arrives at school on time – not late.
- Arrange dental and medical appointments outside school hours when possible.
- Always inform the school if your child is absent due to illness – this should be followed up with a written note when your child returns to school.
- Take truancy seriously – if your child is not attending school as you expect they may be putting themselves at risk – Who are they with? What are they doing?
- Take family holidays outside term time.
- Talk to your child about school and take an interest in their school work (including homework).
- Attend parent evenings and school events.
- Praise and reward your child’s achievements at school.
- Always support school staff in their efforts to control difficult or challenging behaviour.
- Discuss any problems or difficulties with the school – staff are there to help and will be supportive.
