March at Lindenwold ECC
Notes from the Principals
by Mr. Jeff Patterson (Principal) and Ms. Melanie Martin (Assistant Principal)
⦿ We know changes in the middle of the year can be hard, but we thank everyone for being so understanding about our closing off of the aisle closet to the All Purpose Room during dismissal. It has made our Parking Lot-and the dismissal of our First Graders-so much safer. Thank You!
⦿As a reminder, all walkers should be picked up daily by 3:55. Recently, we've seen more students in the Office later in the day and just wanted to reshare this policy. Thank you!
⦿ For those looking ahead, our third Home and School Meeting of the year will take place on Monday, April 13th at 5:30 p.m.. We will share an agenda out in advance so families will know what we will be discussing.
⦿ Our Reading Challenge is still happening! Please remember to continue sending in those Reading Logs.
Read Across America
Read Across America week is next week! From 3/2-3/6 will be hosting a variety of themed days. We will be doing other fun, reading related activities throughout the month. For more information about one of those-our Masked Reader series-scroll further down this Newsletter!

*Please note some Preschool classes will also be holding their Black History Month Family Engagement activities that had to be rescheduled due to last week's snow days. These are detailed on the calendar below.
Notes from Our Nurses
By Ms. Peacock and Ms. Hemple
Dear ECC Families,
March is National Poison Prevention Month
Little kids are curious explorers! Let’s keep them safe at home and on the go.
Safety Tips for Families:
- Lock up medicines, vitamins, and cleaning products – keep them out of reach
- Keep these items in original containers (not food/drink bottles)
- Never call medicine “candy”
- Save Poison Control in your phone: 1-800-222-1222 (Free • 24/7 • U.S.)
Seasonal Allergies Are Here!
Spring means flowers… and sniffles!
Common allergy signs:
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Sneezing
- Itchy or watery eyes
Helpful tips:
- Wash hands and faces after outdoor play
- Change clothes after being outside
- Let the nurse know if your child takes allergy medicine
Boosting Little Immune Systems
Let’s help our kids stay strong and healthy! Encourage healthy habits to combat late-winter colds.
Healthy Habits:
- Get plenty of sleep
- Eat fruits & veggies
- Drink lots of water
- Play outside & stay active
- Wash hands often!
Hand Hygiene = Healthy Hands
Germs love dirty hands—let’s wash them away! Frequent handwashing is the best way to prevent illness.
Teach kids to wash:
- Before eating
- After using the bathroom
- After coughing or sneezing
- After playing outside
Wash with soap and water for 20 seconds (sing the ABCs!)
Spring Weather = Layer Up!
March weather can change fast—warm one day, chilly the next.
Please send:
- Light jackets or hoodies
- Extra layers for cool mornings
- Closed-toe shoes for playground safety
Label jackets so they make it back home!
Head Lice: Let’s Stay Bug-Free
Head lice are common in young children and not a sign of being dirty.
Prevention Tips:
- Avoid sharing hats, brushes, hair ties, or headphones
- Check your child’s hair weekly
- Long hair? Keep it tied back
If lice are found, contact the school nurse for guidance.
Nurse’s Note
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our little learners healthy, safe, and ready to learn this spring! If you have any health questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to the school nurses.
Kindly,

March Menus from the Cafeteria
Below you will find the Cafeteria menus for February. Attachments of both Lunch and Breakfast menus are attached below for easier reading.
"March Madness:" College and Career Awareness
During the month of March, one of our goals is to build excitement around students’ futures while exposing them to different post-secondary pathways such as 2-year colleges, 4-year universities, trade schools, military service, and career training programs. Classroom teachers have the option of doing different college and career activities with their students. Staff and students are encouraged to wear college or career gear to help spark conversations with about higher education or careers they may be interested in pursuing (for example: doctor, teacher, police, fire fighter, video game creator, etc.) on March 9th, March 16th, and March 23rd.
ECC "Masked Reader"
As part of our Read Across America festivities, a number of ECC teachers and guests have volunteered to be "Masked Readers", recording themselves reading a children's book they love. Teachers will be able to share these videos with students in class, but we also wanted to share them in case families are interested in viewing them at home. Please see the link below for our first week's worth of videos. What's up now is just a start and more videos will be added throughout the month!
