SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT
Each AE student started the week learning what it looks like and sounds like to follow the Dutchmen Way by being respectful, responsible and ready to learn in each space in our school!
Fourth-grade students in Mr. Merry's class also created ideas of what it looks like to follow the Dutchmen Way in their classroom!
Students in every classroom also participated in a number of activities to get to know one another, build collaborative classroom communities, and have some fun!
Students in Mrs. Chinchar's fourth-grade class worked in groups to communicate and determine how they can fit their bodies through an index card!
Students in Mrs. MeFeater's and Mrs. Popejoy's third-grade classrooms created sculptures that told about themselves, their interests, and their families!
Students in Mr. Merry's and Mrs. Wilson's fourth-grade classes worked in groupts to "Save Fred!" Fred is an unlucky gummy worm who capsized his "boat" and lost his "life preserver." As a team, students were only able to use the tools provided (paper clips) to help save Fred, put on his life preserver, and put him back in his boat.
Throughout the week, we celebrated students going above and beyond to follow the Dutchmen Way with our new Dutchmen Champion Tickets!
At the end of the week, we had an assembly to recognize students acting as Champions in our school. These students exemplified outstanding character, showed leadership, took initiative, and exhibited kindness!
Of course, we also worked in some fun during the assembly. Each class competed against the rest of their grade level to complete a back-to-school relay race where they had to balance a small apple toy on a book while working through a number of obstacles!
