Principal's Report
A Weekly Update from Perkiomen Valley Middle School East
A Word From Dr. Clune
Dear PV East Parents and Guardians,
We wish Mrs. Diane Melville, our Adminstrative Assistant, a happy retirement. The Main Office will not be the same without you.
Our PBIS Glow Dance on October 31st was a lot of fun. It was provided as a grade-level reward for the class as an encouragement to earn more Rock Star tickets. We want to promote positive behavior and establish positive relationships with the faculty & staff.
Our school was recognized at the state-wide PBIS Conference in Hershey, PA with ‘Fidelity at Sustaining Tier 1’ in the 2022-2023 school year. In addition, our PBIS Team was the only secondary school in all of Montgomery County selected to present at this conference. Their presentation entitled, ‘Building a Rock'n Community at the Middle School Level’, was well attended and very informative. Way to go team! East ROCKs! We are Respectful, Own it, Careful, and Kind.
Our school district was also recognized in this month's edition of Arbor Day Magazine. PV East is very involved in efforts to promote nature and the outdoors with PV Woods and our Green Team. Please take a moment to read the article as well as information from our Green Team.
There are many exciting learning experiences happening at PV East. Please follow us on Facebook to keep updated.

Green Team Update
Join Us at East's Student-Run Green Team Charity Bake Sale
On November 20th and 21st, something truly sweet is coming your way during East's Parent-Teacher Conferences. The East Green Team is excited to invite you to our Charity Bake Sale, where indulgence meets a noble cause. It's not just about satisfying your taste buds; it's about making East even greener and paying tribute to a local hero.
What's Cooking?
Our team of talented student bakers will be hard at work whipping up an array of delectable homemade treats. From mouthwatering cupcakes to scrumptious cookies, there's something to delight every palate. Gluten-free, and allergy-friendly options will also be available, ensuring there's a sweet treat for everyone.
A Greener East
Every penny you spend at our Charity Bake Sale goes directly toward our mission to make PVMS East a more sustainable and environmentally conscious place. We're raising funds to replant East's Green Wall, a vibrant living wall that represents our commitment to a greener future. The Green Wall not only adds beauty to our school but also helps purify the air and reduce our carbon footprint.
A Memorial Garden for a Local Hero
In addition to rejuvenating our Green Wall, we're proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds and donations from the bake sale will be used to create a new memorial garden in honor of Trooper Branden T. Sisca. Trooper Sisca served our community with bravery and dedication, and this garden will be a lasting tribute to his memory, filled with lush greenery and beautiful blooms.
How You Can Help
Visit our Student-Run Charity Bake Sale during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 20th and 21st.
Indulge in a variety of delicious baked goods and share the love with friends and family.

SAFETY IN THE STADIUM
From Dr. Russell:
The beginning of the school year is a very exciting time. Not only are students meeting new teachers, engaging in new coursework, and making new friends, there are lots of activities to participate in and events to attend onsite. As our fall athletic contests get underway, the district would like to review several safety measures it has in place pertaining to events held in Thomas J. Keenan Stadium.
When an athletic or Marching Band event is held in the stadium, the district requires all elementary and middle level students to be accompanied by an adult. No attendees are permitted to bring backpacks into the stadium. In the event someone happens to have a backpack with them, they will be asked to place the bag along the fence until the respective owner exits the stadium. There is no food or drink permitted to be brought in from the outside.
Attendees will continue to observe school security guards onsite during events and, as the year progresses, will likely begin to observe Perkiomen Valley School District school police officers in attendance as well. The school police will also be in and around our facilities, districtwide.
The efforts of the school district are to keep our students, staff, and community safe. In the event you have questions about any of the safety measures described here, do not hesitate to reach out to our Chief of Police, Mr. Dean Miller, dmiller@pvsd.org. Thank you for your commitment with us to do everything we are able to maintain safety in the Valley.
After School Athletic/Activity Transportation
- 4:00pm Departure (outside main office) - Monday through Thursday. The 4:00 activity bus will begin running on Monday September 25th.
- 5:00pm Departure (outside gym entrance) - Monday through Thursday. The 5:00 activity bus will begin running on the first day of school, Monday August 28th. The 5:00 activity bus will begin running on Fridays starting after Thanksgiving break.
For each day students intend to take either the 4:00pm or 5:00pm activity bus, they are asked to inform the school district and bus company for routing purposes using the electronic form provided. The form links are below and also available to students via the PV LaunchPad - Classlink. Students must submit their information each morning by 10:00 am if they intend to ride the afternoon activity bus that day.
Nurse's Notes
Required Immunizations
Please make sure that your child has their required immunizations to start school. Our nurse will be reaching out to individual families without their proper paperwork.
Physical & Dental Exams
Sixth grade students require a physical examination and seventh grade students require a dental examination. Exams from July 1, 2022 to the present are acceptable. If your child has had these examinations, please be sure to send a copy to the Nurse's office. Forms are available on the PV website. Your cooperation with this is most appreciated!
Medication
If your child requires medication during the school day, parents must bring the medication to school with the appropriate forms completed by the physician. The forms can be found on the PV website. No medication should be in the student’s possession (pockets, lunch, purse/handbag, or backpack) unless designated by the nurse per state laws.
It is especially important if your child has been diagnosed with a life-threatening allergy, seizures or asthma AND requires emergency medication that you supply the nurse with the required medication.
All medications are to be delivered directly to the nurse’s office and kept in the health room unless otherwise designated by the school nurse. Medication may be delivered at the start of the school year.
SAFE2SAY
We reviewed our Safe 2 Say program last week. Our students viewed the video below during their Advisory period.
Be A Part Of The Conversation - Upcoming Programs
Be a Part of the Conversation equips families and communities in Pennsylvania with skills and resources to understand substance use, addiction, and related health issues. We provide community programs, foster supportive connections, highlight lived experiences, and challenge stigma.
We are a collaboration of community leaders, clinicians, students, school district representatives, and families who believe that having meaningful, inclusive conversations about substance use and addiction will support individuals and their families in their efforts to develop healthy coping skills and access support whenever there is a need. Learn more about us. See the link below for a number of programs that Be a Part of the Conversation offers.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Did you know that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisit Lifeline?
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
https://988lifeline.org/current-events/the-lifeline-and-988/
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
