Skyward Access
As we communicated on August 11, Aledo ISD is transitioning to Skyward beginning this school year. As our district has continued to grow, we have outgrown the capabilities of our previous student information system, Ascender. Skyward is a trusted and widely used student information system utilized by school districts across Texas and the nation.
Skyward Family Access replaces the Ascender Parent Portal, providing parents and guardians with a convenient, secure way to stay connected to their child's attendance, schedules, grades, and more—all in one place. Please note that all student absence requests must also be submitted through Skyward Family Access beginning this school year.
Getting Started
Getting connected is easy!
You should have received an email from no-reply@aledoisd.org on August 11th or 12th with the subject line "Family Access Account Information." This email will include your Skyward Family Access username and a link to create your password.
Set your password by clicking the link in the email.
Download the Skyward Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store using the links below.
Skyward for Android
Skyward for iPhone
You can also access from a PC using this link - https://bit.ly/AledoSkyward
Create a 4-digit PIN if prompted. You may choose any 4-digit PIN you would like to use for quick access to the Skyward mobile app.
When prompted to locate your organization, search for Aledo and select Aledo ISD from the search results.
Enter an account description when prompted. This can be anything you'd like (for example, "Aledo ISD" or "Family Access") and is simply used to help identify your account within the app.
Sign in to the app using your Skyward Family Access username (which is included in the email mentioned above) and the password you created.
Click the green "Continue in App" button if prompted.
You're all set! Once school begins, you'll be able to use Skyward Family Access to view your student's attendance, schedules, grades, assignments, and other important information throughout the school year.
Reporting Student Absences
Beginning this school year, parents and guardians will also use Skyward Family Access to submit student absence requests.
To submit an absence request:
Select the student for whom you are requesting the absence.
Tap the Attendance icon.
Select the Absence Requests tab.
Tap the green + Add Absence Request button.
Enter the date(s) of the absence and provide the requested details.
If applicable, attach supporting documentation, such as a doctor's note.
Tap Save at the top of the screen to submit your request.
After you submit your request, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to the district's Attendance Matters website, where you can learn more about attendance procedures and documentation requirements.
If your student's healthcare provider determines that it is medically infeasible for your student to attend school for multiple consecutive days, please ask the provider to complete the Serious/Life-Threatening Medical Condition form and return it to your campus attendance clerk.
Drop Off and Dismissal Procedures
Morning Drop Off
- In the morning, you will enter from FM 5 and circle around the building. You have the option to either stay along the curb or enter the parking lot. Both are drop off locations. The parking lot option is for more independent students. We have a staff member that will be in the crosswalk from 7:15-7:40. If you arrive after 7:40, please do not use the parking lot option.
- After 7:45, parents are required to walk their students into the office to sign in.
Afternoon Dismissal
- We utilize CurbSmart for our dismissal. Parents and families do not need an app. We will provide families with 3 placards (you can cut them out, laminate them, give them to family members, etc.), In the afternoon, we have 2 lines (both curb side). As you pull up, please stay in the lane you have selected upon entering. A staff member will enter your number. Inside the building, teachers are notified of your arrival and a student is assigned a color. This corresponds to the colored squares and cones outside. When you pull up, your child should be at the corresponding area. Please do not stop when cars are still moving.
Bus
- Our students arrive in the bus area and enter the building by the gym. They will either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or go straight to their grade level pod.
- In the afternoon, teachers walk students to the bus. We will have colored tags to further ensure students are placed on the correct bus.
During both morning drop off and afternoon dismissal, parents/guardians/caregivers should not exit their vehicle. We want to keep the line moving for an efficient dismissal.
Lunch Visitors will be welcome on Monday, August 24. One more week!
FAQs
When can I begin eating lunch with my child?
In the first few days, we are busy teaching procedures and routines. To allow our students to become familiar with these important procedures, our campus will be closed to visitors the first several days. On August 24, parents are welcome to visit for lunch.
If we want to volunteer, will we need to attend a training?
To volunteer (this includes attending field trips, reading on Aledo Reads Day and other opportunities), a parent will need to:
