Southwest School Corporation has been featured in Kuder’s CCR Champions series for its groundbreaking work in early career readiness. The district has integrated Kuder Galaxy®, a space-themed online platform, into grades K–5 to make career exploration engaging and age-appropriate. Students “travel” to planets that represent the six Holland work environments—Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional—learning through interactive games, videos, and activities.

A highlight of the year is the annual Career Day, where local professionals share their work in hands-on stations. Students rotate through each area, ask questions, and discover new possibilities—sometimes careers they never knew existed. Counselors say these experiences broaden students’ perspectives, spark curiosity, and build confidence in their future paths.

“We love instilling hope for their future and showing them the world of possibilities beyond what they might see locally,” said Counselor Dani Hamilton.
