Dear Fisher Families,

The excitement continued this week at Fisher School, and we have so much to celebrate!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Fisher community, we were once again honored to welcome Boston Red Sox pitcher Garrett Whitlock—for the second year in a row!—to our school on Monday morning. As many of you know, Fisher teacher Carolyn McDonough leads our annual Rally Against Cancer fundraiser to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. We are proud to share that Fisher School was once again the top fundraising school in all of Massachusetts, raising over $93,000 this year!

Garrett’s visit was filled with unforgettable moments. He was welcomed with roaring applause by our entire school community in the auditorium, where he shared thoughtful answers to student questions and inspiring reflections on the importance of our Fisher core values: Respect, Integrity, and Kindness. Our top fundraising class, Ms. Romano’s “Change for a Cure” champions, received a special classroom visit with Garrett, where each student had the chance to take a photo and receive an autograph. Our hardworking Grade 5 Student Council members were also recognized for their leadership and enjoyed a personal meet-and-greet as a thank-you for their efforts throughout the campaign. The Red Sox and The Jimmy Fund extended their heartfelt gratitude to our community for making such a meaningful impact.

Adding to the excitement of the week, our incredible Physical Education teacher Jen Hornsleth organized another fantastic Field Day full of energy, fun, and teamwork. A big thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make the day extra special—your support and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated by both students and staff.

Finally, our fifth graders visited the middle school to get a glimpse of what lies ahead this fall. We are so proud of how far they’ve come and know they are well-prepared for this exciting next chapter. We look forward to celebrating them at their “Moving On” ceremony this Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. in the Fisher Auditorium.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. It’s what makes our Fisher community so strong!

Have a great weekend,

Brian

Medication pick up

Please plan on picking up your child's medication the week of 6/9 between 9:30-2:30pm or on the last day of school (June 13th) until 12pm. The health office has stock Epi-Pens in the event of an emergency. ****If you have a grade 5 student, you will not be able to pick up their medication until 6/11 due to the Grade 5 Field Day on 6/10.

Unfortunately, I am unable to send home medication with your student and we are unable to store medication over the summer.

As a reminder, your child will need updated medication orders for the 2025-26 school year that are dated after 06/30/2025. I will reach out to you prior to the start of the school year with availability to drop off new orders and their medication(s).

Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or need a different accommodation for pick up (ie if your child attends extended day AM/PM).

Docent Art Program – Thank You!

As we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the amazing parent, grandparent, and community volunteers who helped bring the Docent Art Program to life in grades 1–5.

Your time, creativity, and dedication to learning and sharing new art units made a lasting impact in our classrooms. This year, we were excited to introduce a new and engaging unit, “The Art of the Picture Book,” which was a huge hit with students and teachers alike!

We wish everyone a joyful, relaxing summer and look forward to seeing you again next year. As we plan ahead, we’re looking for a little extra help on the administrative side of the program. If you're interested in supporting the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Docent Art running smoothly, we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you again for helping us keep the arts alive at Fisher!

With appreciation,
The Docent Fisher School Team

Check the Lost & Found!

As we approach the end of the school year, it’s time for a little spring cleaning—and that includes our very full Lost & Found! From jackets and sweatshirts to lunchboxes and water bottles, our collection has grown significantly.

We encourage students and families to stop by and take a look for any missing items. All unclaimed belongings will be donated after the last day of school, so be sure to check before it's too late!

Let’s wrap up the year with clear hallways—and reunited items!
