The O.W.L. - Our Weekly Letter - October 5, 2025
Mrs. Hobbs Named 2025 Craven Early College Teacher Ambassador/Teacher of the Yr!
Each year, we take time to honor one teacher who goes above and beyond—someone who embodies excellence in the classroom, builds strong connections with students, and plays an important role in shaping the culture of our school.
This year's Teacher of the Year consistently finds ways to engage students, sparking genuine excitement for learning. Her leadership extends far beyond the classroom, as she actively support colleagues, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and models the very best of what it means to be an educator.
Colleagues describe this year's Teacher of the Year as a mentor, a collaborator, and a source of encouragement. Students describe her as inspiring, approachable, and someone who makes learning come alive. One staff member shared, “This teacher has been super helpful with my transition to this school.”
It is with great pride and admiration that we announce our 2025 Teacher Ambassador… Mrs. Hobbs!
We are Soaring Higher with O.W.L. Pride! #CravenEarlyCollegeWINS #nced

Brief Description of Edgar Allen Poe: Shuddersome - Tales of Poe
The thumping of a heartbeat. The creak of a door. The howl of a bitter wind. The gong of a clock tower. The clang of alarm bells. The sound of beating wings getting closer and closer…
Specters, ghosts and ghouls come alive in this vivid theatrical adaptation of some of Edgar Allan Poe’s best-known works. Included are The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, and The Masque of the Red Death.
Poe’s words rise from the page like corpses from the grave. Be careful. Do you hear that tap, tap, tapping?

Chronic Absenteeism's Impact on Taking College Classes!
We want all of our students to perform well in their courses and earn credits. It is vital that students have limited unexcused absences so they can learn course material, show mastery of content, and earn course credit. Students who have high numbers of unexcused absences are at risk of failing courses and will NOT be eligible to take classes at Craven Community College.
