Parent-Teacher Conferences
We would like to encourage all families to sign up for and attend a conference with their child's teacher using the link below.
- If your child is in 5th or 6th grade, please sign up to see their homeroom teacher only. Information about all classes will be shared by this teacher.
- If your child receives special education supports, you may sign up for an additional conference with their case manager to receive updates on their progress.
- If you child receives reading intervention, you may sign up for a conference with Mrs. Leisey to learn about their growth.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or Mrs. Hoover!
Community Resources Available During Parent-Teacher Conferences
The staff at Annville-Cleona wants to ensure our students and families have as much support as possible both inside and outside of school. We work with several amazing community resources that will be present at our parent-teacher conferences this year. Empower the Mind, Compass Mark, Power Packs, and other resources will be present. These companies provide support through school-based therapy, small groups, food donations, and additional services. If you are interested in meeting with them, they will be present at Cleona from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24th, and at Annville from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. On Tuesday, November 25th. We hope to see you there!
Safety Drill - Response to Violent Intruder
The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires each school entity to conduct a security drill in each school building within the first 90 days of school. Teachers have received training about making decisions in a crisis situation and have talked with their students about the 3E principles (Escape, Enhance, Engage).
The 3E principles include:
Escape: Get to a safe place
Enhance: If unable to escape, lockdown and make a safe place.
Engage: As a last resort, take action to disengage the perpetrator and escape to a safe place.
One day this week (November 17th - November 21st), an unannounced RVI drill will occur at Annville Elementary School. At the start of the drill, students and staff will be told that we are conducting a practice drill to keep all participants comfortable in the practice scenario. Staff will talk with students about what they would/could do in the particular situation and walk them through the various steps. We will have these conversations and conduct the drills with students in an age-appropriate manner. Following the completion of our drill, communication will occur with parents/guardians so that you can talk to your child(ren) about their drill.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Hoover, building principal, at 717-867-7620 or Mrs. Heisler, Assistant to the Superintendent/Safety and Security Coordinator, at 717-867-7600. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we attempt to create the safest possible environment for our students.
Dressing for the Changing Temperatures
With the recent drop in temperatures, we want to ensure all students are comfortable and ready to learn throughout the school day. Please remind your child to come to school dressed appropriately for the colder weather, including coats, hats, and gloves as needed. Students also need to be dressed appropriately for outdoor recess, which will take place each day as long as the real feel temperature is above 28 degrees.
While our nurse’s office does have a small supply of warmer clothing available for students to borrow, it is limited. Thank you for helping us keep everyone warm, healthy, and ready for a great day of learning!
Kids Heart Challenge
We are excited to help create a community of lifesavers and are asking you to join us. Sign up under our school HERE. Check this off your list in less than one minute and receive a wristband just for joining the team.
This year, we have an important goal: 100% of our families learning the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR! It only takes a few minutes to learn, and it can make all the difference in an emergency.
Sign Up: HERE and download the free “AHA Schools” app.
Raise funds to help kids with special hearts.
Complete Finn’s Mission: Complete all 7 steps, learn Hands-Only CPR, and be entered to win two Super Bowl tickets!
