What will we be learning this month?

Reading

Starting our year with a Cursive Boot Camp, where students will learn the basic strokes and proper formation of cursive letters. We’ll dive into our focusing question: Why Do People Explore the Sea? Students will explore fascinating texts about ocean exploration and learn how to write an informal essay while sharing their ideas and discoveries.

Math

We’ll spend the next 3 weeks building on the skills students learned in 2nd grade and strengthening their math foundation for 3rd grade. Students will work with numbers up to 1,000, practice addition and subtraction, read graphs, measure length, and build confidence with problem-solving!

Science/Social Studies

Every 6 weeks we will switch between Science and Social Study standards. We will begin with science learning about rocks and soil.
