Sheiko's Family Update

Hello Sheiko Families,

I hope you are having a great summer! For those that are new to Sheiko, welcome! We are so happy to have you here! You can expect a Friday newsletter from me and your child's teacher once school starts. There are so many fun and exciting family events at Sheiko Elementary, so we hope you can attend as many as you can. I cannot wait to get to know your family - here is a little bit about me if you are new to Sheiko. Thank you to everyone that came to our "Movie Night" at the high school. It was so nice to meet new families and see so many familiar faces!

This week's "Big Announcement" is about "Popsicles with the Principal" on August 20th. You will get an email about your child's teacher the week before. At our "Popsicles" event, you will also have the chance to get information from our nutrition department, get help with "back to school paperwork" in the office (translators will be available), transportation, Kids Connect (before and after school care), PTO, drop off your child's school supplies, and go to the book fair! You can also drop off your child's medication and the documentation that is required to go with that. It will be a great family event! You will not want to miss!

Our last Sheiko Day at Skull Island Camp is on Friday August 8th!!

Join other Sheiko Elementary students for a fun filled day! These are great days for Sheiko students to attend together, see familiar faces, make new friends for the upcoming school year and have fun!!

Follow the instructions below to get $10 off—plus, that $10 goes back to support Sheiko.

When registering for camp, select “school fundraiser” in the “how did you hear about us” section. Then select Sheiko Elementary.

• Doors open at 7:55
• All students enter the building on the "playground side" of the building from the bus or car line.
• Students may eat their free breakfast when they come in.
• Students exit car line on the driver's side of the car.
• Car line closes at 8:18.
• Students must be brought to the front of the building and signed in after 8:18. They are marked tardy at this point.
• School starts at 8:20 - Students must be in their seat ready to learn at this time.
• Dismissal is at 3:12

Wow! Every worker has such a gift and a talent. We are so thankful to the West Bloomfield community. Our new building will open in the fall of 2026! Only one more year!

We would love for our students to design a logo on a 8 1/2" X 11 piece of computer paper with these requirements:

1 - Use the words "Let's Grow Together" on the logo.

2 - Outline the drawing part of the design with a black marker.

3 - The theme colors are hot pink, neon blue, neon green, and yellow.

4 - We are focusing on a growth mindset and resiliency.

5 - Turn in your entry to Mrs. McDowell's office by Friday, September 5th.

6 - Every entry wins a prize from Mrs. McDowell's "Basket of Happiness"!

7 - The design winner will have their logo printed on our banners, flyers, and newsletters!

Thank you to our very own West Bloomfield Coalition and LaFontaine for sponsoring this anti-bullying assembly for our students on September 9th. Mr. Peace is a tradition at Sheiko, and we can't wait to hear his message again this year!
