A Message from Ms. Osmerg A Message from Ms. Osmerg

Dear Jaguar Families,

I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing, and fun Spring Break! We excitedly welcomed our students back this week. We returned to teaching and leaning at a high level, reviewing expectations, and setting goals. We are ready to finish our last 6 weeks STRONG!

While we have many fun activities coming up, we also have many important assessments such as our iReady Diagnostics and Georgia Milestones (3rd-5th grades) to complete. Please help us continue to ensure students get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast, and arrive to school on time each day. Thank you for your support with this!

On April 25, 2025, Abbotts Hill will celebrate our 25th anniversary! We have various activities planned throughout the day for the students. A school-wide DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time will happen for 25 minutes before 2pm (1:35-2pm). Starting at 1:20, parents/guardians are welcome to come join DEAR time with their child. Please see the information below if you choose to attend:

  • Only a parent/guardian can attend. No siblings.
  • Check in will be at the gate by the field.
  • Parents must bring a book to read, too! It is DEAR time for everyone! Don't forget your towel as well. See flyer below for more details!
  • Once the event ends, your child will go back to his/her classroom. NO early checkouts after 1:30pm will be accommodated on this day . Your child will go home his/her regularly scheduled way. If your child will ride carpool on that day, a note must be sent to the teacher the morning of so that we can dismiss safely. Again, NO early checkouts after 1:30pm will be accommodated.
  • If the event is moved indoors due to weather, it will be a student only event due to spacing.
  • A map showing where the grade levels will be will be shared next week so that you can easily find your class.

Parent Online Verification - 3 Action Steps Needed by Parents/Guardians!! Parent Online Verification - 3 Action Steps Needed by Parents/Guardians!!

There are a couple of important updates and actions to ensure a smooth start to the upcoming school year.

1. Demographic Information Update - Action Required
Beginning April 15, 2025, all FCS families will be required to verify and update their demographic information via an Existing Family Registration (Next Year 2025-2026) in Infinite Campus. This includes confirming or updating emergency contact details. PLEASE NOTE: The emergency contact must be someone other than the parent/guardian, as we must have an alternate contact in the event of an emergency.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping this information accurate. It is essential for student safety and for maintaining effective communication between your family and the school.

2. Optional Student Device Protection Plan for FCS-Issued Student Devices

New legal requirements will significantly limit the use of personal devices (BYOD) in schools. As a result, Fulton County Schools will rely more heavily on district-issued devices to ensure all students have access to the technology they need for learning.

To help families prepare, we are offering an optional Student Device Protection Plan for FCS-issued student devices. This plan provides an affordable way to protect against unexpected costs due to accidental damage, loss, or theft.

Benefits of the device protection plan include:

  • Protection from the cost of accidental damage
  • Peace of mind in case of loss or theft
  • Continued access to technology without interruption

You may sign up and pay for the Optional Student Device Protection Plan during the Online Verification process, beginning on April 15th, 2025.

For more information about the Student One-to-One Device Program and protection plan details, please https:/information-technology/it

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. If you have any questions, please contact our data clerk, Kristin Stockman.
