Sullivan Boys’ Tennis: Sectional Champions Again!
The Sullivan boys’ tennis team captured their third straight Sectional Championship after defeating WRV and Bloomfield in matches played at Linton on September 30 and October 1.
Against WRV, the Arrows swept every court, led by singles wins from Hunter Pinkston, Carter Mischler, and Sam Couch, along with strong doubles play from Spencer Hanks/Jaxon Zollman and Zane Abbott/Easton Monroe.
In the championship match versus Bloomfield, Sullivan secured the title with victories from Mischler, Couch, Hanks/Zollman, and Abbott/Monroe. The hard-fought doubles win by Hanks and Zollman clinched the match.
Coach praised the team’s accomplishments, noting that the boys not only earned their third Sectional in a row, but also tied the school record with 18 dual wins in a season. One more win at Regionals would make this squad the winningest boys’ tennis team in school history. Adding in a third consecutive WIC Conference Championship, the Arrows have checked every goal they set this season.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters for continuing this winning tradition!
King of the Court Raises Over $14,000 for Worthy Causes
Sullivan High School’s King of the Court event was a huge success, raising an impressive $14,221 to support several important causes. Ten SHS boys participated in the fundraiser, with top earners Jaxon Zollman, Ty Hamilton, and King Hayden Weitekamp, who alone collected an outstanding $5,636.
All proceeds will benefit the Live Like Madi Fund, the Angie Melchert Scholarship, Lilly Holmes—a freshman volleyball player at Terre Haute South—and Riley Children’s Hospital.
A big thank you goes out to the SHS Volleyball Team for organizing the event and to everyone who contributed to making this night so meaningful. Your generosity is helping make a difference in the lives of others.
Lady Arrows Volleyball Milestones
The Sullivan Lady Arrows Volleyball team is celebrating two major achievements this season!
-
Kensley Wiltermood reached a remarkable career milestone by recording her 1,000th dig in the team’s win over North Central.
-
Just days later, Rachel Eslinger, junior setter, tallied her 2,000th career assist, showcasing her leadership and playmaking on the court.
Sullivan High School senior and outside hitter Izzie Jenkins reached an incredible milestone this season—1,000 career digs!
These players were honored by their teammates and coaches for these incredible accomplishments. Congratulations to Kensley, Rachel and Izzy—we are proud of you for representing Arrow volleyball with excellence!
