TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK ππ
This week is teacher and staff appreciation week, May 5th β May 9th, and the theme is "One in a Melon". We are excited to shower our teachers with gratitude! If you would like your student to
gift their teacher something special, here are a few ideas:
1. Handwritten notes or cards. Example: βYou are One in a Melon becauseβ¦.β
2. Watermelon-themed treat bags. Include watermelon gum, pink starburst, green
Jolly Ranchers, or anything red, pink, or green.
3. Watermelon Fans (Paper Craft). Color or paint a paper plate like watermelons,
fold it accordion style, and tape a popsicle stick to it for a cute desk fan.
4. DIY Bookmarks. Use a cardstock or construction paper with a watermelon
design or quote. Include messages like βThanks for helping me grow!β
5. Small Potted Plant. Decorate the pot with watermelon colors or a small sticker.
Friday May 9 th we will provide lunch for the teachers & staff sponsored by our Felicita
Families. If you would like to contribute, please contact: Laura Aguilera (Family Liaison)
at laguilera@eusd.org. Participation is voluntary.
ROTARY AWARDS π
Congratulations to the following 2 students on being honored this week at the Rotary Awards. Please read their accomplishments below! Way to ROAR, Bobcats!
πππΎ
Service Above Self--Camila M.
Camilla is a kind and dedicated leader who consistently serves her school community. As part of the Library Leadership class, she helps create a welcoming space for readers and supports younger students in finding books and developing a love for reading. As a member of the Student Council, she plays a key role in planning activities, welcoming students, and fostering inclusivity at recess. In the classroom, Camilla is a role model who values others' perspectives, helps solve problems, and spreads kindness, making Felicita a better place every day.
Outstanding Scholar--Jonathan B.
Jonathan is an exceptional scholar who consistently exceeds grade-level expectations through his dedication, curiosity, and self-directed learning. He has shown remarkable academic progress, particularly in reading, where his comprehension has advanced to nearly a 7th-grade level. Jonathan continues to be an outstanding scholar beyond the classroom by actively participating in extracurricular activities, including soccer, music, and mentoring, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to positively impacting his community. His perseverance, integrity, and passion for learning make him a role model and an inspiration to others.

GRADES 3-5 CAASPP TESTING CONTINUES

3RD GRADE SAN DIEGO AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM ππππ«
Last Friday, our 3rd grade students were treated to a visit from the 3rd Grade San Diego Air and Space Museum. Here they learned about space flight and aircraft design.
ROOMS π±
Next week, we will launch a program with Apptegy to test SMS text alerts for teacher announcements in Rooms. When a teacher posts a new announcement, parent/guardians linked to students in Rooms will automatically receive a text message with a link to view the announcement online. No app installation or Active Rooms account is required β parents/guardians can simply log in using their phone number if needed.
These texts are in addition to any pop-up or email notifications guardians may already have enabled. Parents/guardians can opt out at any time by replying STOP. More details are included in the attached FAQ flyers. Weβre excited about this improvement and hope these SMS notifications make it even easier for families to stay connected with teacher updates in Rooms.
25-26 STUDENT REGISTRATION
From the Front Office
Hello Families!
It is almost that time to start re-registering your studentβs for the next school year. Please make sure you are able to login to your Parent Portal Account! All new TK/K families would need to make a new account. Letters with instructions from our district will be sent via mail! Returning Student Registration 2025-26 opens on May 13th, 2025.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS β
Help us reach our attendance goal of 94% average daily attendance!
Regular student attendance plays a critical role in our collective mission to ensure every student achieves their fullest potential.
Why Attendance Should Be a Top Priority:
Academic Achievement: Regular attendance is fundamental to student success. Each school day is a building block in the learning process. Consistent attendance helps students keep up with coursework, understand key concepts, and perform better academically.
Social and Emotional Development: School is a place where students develop crucial social skills and emotional resilience. Frequent absences can hinder their ability to form strong relationships with peers and teachers, impacting their overall development.
Future Opportunities: Consistent attendance is linked to higher graduation rates and better long-term outcomes, including higher education and career prospects. By prioritizing attendance, we are directly contributing to students' future success.
School Culture: Regular attendance fosters a positive school culture and enhances the learning environment for everyone. It creates a sense of community and ensures that all students have equal access to the resources and support they need.
BEST ATTENDANCE AWARD
This month, we will continue to focus on improving attendance. Here are the attendance winners with the least amount of absences:
TK/K: Ms. Hudson's Class
1st Grade: Ms. Dame's' Class
2nd Grade: Ms. Hodge's Class
3rd Grade: Ms. Stepan's Class
4th/5th Grade: Ms. Lyon's Class
Keep it up, Bobcats, and remember, every day counts!
Attendance Challenge
Felicitaβs Spring EVERY DAY COUNTS Attendance Challenge!
ATTENDANCE matters! From April 1st until Friday, May 30th, classes will earn points based on their daily attendance percentageβ1 point for 85-89%, 2 points for 90-94%, and 3 points for 95% or higher. Plus, weβll have three double-point days to give classes an extra boost! The upper and lower grade class with the highest total points will win a special Family Day at Lunch as a reward for their dedication to showing up every day. Letβs finish the school year strongβEvery Day Counts!
πͺπ
Our classes are still working toward the Spring Attendance Challenge goalβearning their very own Family Day at Lunch! During the week of 5/5β5/9, students with perfect attendance and no tardies will get to join special recess challenges the following week to earn extra points for their class. This could be a game changer in the class standings! Every Day Countsβand it counts even more when points are on the line! Make sure your child is here every day next week to be part of the challenges!
