Morning Drop Off
OCS policy is that you are not able to line up in the carline (am or pm) more than 30 minutes prior, so not before 7:40 in the morning, or before 3:00 in the afternoon. This is solely for safety reasons and your cooperation is appreciated. All passengers should remain in the vehicle in the car line.
While we welcome parents on our campus, safety is always a priority. Parents are not permitted to walk students to class. There are numerous adults spaced out in the hallways to make sure students get to the correct place safely.
Updates November 2025:
With bus times being so late this year, many more parents are dropping off and picking up their students. We certainly understand this, but it is causing traffic to back up on the road. Here are a few things we need parents to do to help this process run smoothly and ensure student safety in the mornings and afternoons:
*Let your student walk in on their own unless you have business to attend to in the office or your student is in Pre-K. State Pre-K rules mandate that those students are walked to the classroom daily. Staff are inside the doors to ensure K-5 students are monitored as they transition to class.
*Please do not park in Handicapped Parking unless you have the required sticker/tag.
*Please do not allow students to get out of the car while you are waiting in line.
*Do not line up before 7:40 am or 3:00 pm - this is an OCS protocol.
*SWE is a smoke free campus; please refrain from smoking or vaping in the car line and from tossing cigarette butts out of the vehicle.
*Please do not use the grassy area in the front of the school for student drop off or pickup. This includes YMCA drop off/pick up.
*Please refer to the parking lot traffic map below, especially if you are leaving during drop off/pick up times.
*If you pull into SWE at 8:30 or later, you will have to park and walk your student in and check them in. Our carline folks have instructional duties at that time and the tardy bell rings at 8:30. We are going to start unloading a few minutes earlier to hopefully clear a few cars out before the buses start arriving.
We do not have additional manpower to monitor parking lots in the morning. I depend on parents to do the right thing, follow the rules, be patient, and ensure that your students do the same in order to provide a smooth arrival for students each morning.
Please do not use grassy area for student drop-off or pickup; including YMCA.
DISMISSAL
Car riders are dismissed at 3:30 and will dismiss in the same line as morning drop-off.
For all grades, please make sure your car tag is visible and plan for students to enter the vehicle on the passenger side. YOU MUST DISPLAY YOUR CAR TAG. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PULL OVER SO STAFF CAN CHECK YOUR ID AND CALL THE OFFICE TO VERIFY THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO PICK UP THE STUDENT.
PLEASE BE PATIENT! Due to late bus times, many more parents have elected to pick their students up this year than in the past.
*Early checkouts are not permitted after 3:00 pm at anytime throughout the year. At this time students are preparing for dismissal. Any transportation changes must be submitted no later than 2:30 each day.
*Please join the BUS INFO "Class" on Class Dojo via the link below. We'll update there if there is a significant time difference in pick up or drop off times. Again, thank you for your patience!

Don't forget to write your student's name on their belongings!
Dress Code for Students and Visitors
It is expected that students and all school visitors will be dressed and groomed appropriately. If students are not following the dress code the parent will be called to bring a change of clothes. If visitors are not dressed appropriately for a school setting, we will help you at the door as soon as we can, but you will not be permitted to enter the building. Dress code guidelines are as follows:
1. Hats and hoods are not to be worn in the building.
2. Shorts, skirts, dresses and skorts must be appropriate length (Fingertip length is a good rule of thumb).
3. If leggings are worn then tunic length shirts or appropriate length skirt/dresses should also be worn over the leggings.
4. Shirts must extend past the waist of the pants to avoid display of midriff even when arms are raised. Crop tops are not permitted.
5. Clothing that encourages the use of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs, or clothing that contains the use of profanity or inappropriate slang/pictures, including weapons, is not permitted.
6. Students should wear shoes that are appropriate for daily recess and physical education activities. Sandals and dress shoes should have heel straps to avoid injury (No flip-flops). Tennis shoes are recommended for daily wear.
7. Pajamas, including pajama pants, are not to be worn to school unless there is a special incentive day.
