11/05/2023 BCHS Weekly Newsletter
Principal's Message
Greetings Bear Creek Families- Staff and students enjoyed a fantastic Halloween and Dia de los Muertos this past week.
Friendly reminder: this Wednesday is a minimum day schedule and Friday is a holiday to honor military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
Starting this week, the staff parking lot will have a large sign in the right lane of the staff parking lot to remind everyone that our student drop off and pick up zone is in the front of school and the student parking lot.
For everyone's safety, please slow down to 5 mph in parking lot.
If you access campus from McNabb street, remember to turn left as you pull into the parking lot and pull all the way forward before dropping off your student.
Please thank the military veterans in your lives for their service to our country this week in honor of Veterans Day.
Sincerely-
Mrs. Hummel

In their announcement, they write, “In the face of book bans and attacks on free expression on the rise in America, Penguin Random House and We Need Diverse Books celebrate the power of books and stories. Applicants to the new award will be asked to answer the prompt, “Tell us about one banned book that changed your life and why.”
The Creative Writing Award was founded in 1993 by PRH. We Need Diverse Books entered the partnership in 2019. The shared mission is to help elevate and support the next generation of writers. Over the years, the program has awarded more than $2.9 million to public high school students for original compositions across genres and formats. Categories include the Michelle Obama Award for Memoir, the Amanda Gorman Award for Poetry, the Maya Angelou Award for Spoken Word, and the Fiction/Drama Award.
