Principal Office Updates Principal Office Updates

It's hard to believe that this week was our last full week of school for the year. Students have done a wonderful job staying focused and working hard. As I walk through the hallways, I continue to hear academic conversations all around; students are finding volumes of 3D objects, reading The Giver and The Lightning Thief, and exploring how human impact on the environment has shifted our planet and resources. We will continue to engage academically all of next week, then round out the year with some projects, presentations, and a field trip during our final week.

The Albright Middle School Band also put on a great concert on Tuesday night! Congratulations to the band and Mr. Babiarz on a beautiful performance. I'm looking forward to seeing the orchestra concert next week.

As we look towards next school year, please do not hesitate to reach out to me (hhummel@saltcreek48.org) if there is anything you think I should know about your student to help best support them.

Summer Chromebook Collection

Please see this important communication from Dr. Martelli:

Dear Parents,

As we approach the end of the school year, we want to share important information regarding student Chromebooks and access to school resources over the summer.

Chromebook Collection

All school-issued Chromebooks and their chargers will be collected before the last day of school. This year, we will be replacing our entire fleet of Chromebooks. This is great news because we are ensuring students have updated, reliable devices for the upcoming school year. Per the District 48 Parent & Student Handbook (25-26), estimated costs for lost, intentionally damaged, or stolen items (subject to change) are as follows:

  • Device Replacement - $500.00

  • Stylus - $35 - 60

  • Charging Cord - $30 - $55

Access to School Accounts Over the Summer
Students will continue to have access to their school accounts during the summer months. If your child wants access to the district-provided educational resources, such as i-Ready, they may do so by logging in on a personal device using their school email address and password.

How to Set Up a Profile for Student Access

  • Open the Google Chrome (or Edge) browser on your personal device

  • In the top right corner, click the profile icon (circle with a picture or initials)

  • Click “Add Chrome Profile” or “Add new Profile.”

  • Click ‘Sign In” in the window that pops up

  • Students will enter their school email address (ending with @saltcreek48.org) and click “Next”

  • Students will enter their password and click “Next.”

  • When prompted to turn on sync, click “Yes, I’m In” (this will allow all their bookmarks, settings, and saved passwords to be transferred)

Using a separate Chrome profile helps keep your child’s school account separate from personal or family accounts. This prevents issues like being logged into the wrong Google account, ensures school apps and extensions work properly, and keeps bookmarks, history, and saved work organized for school use only.

Please note that while summer access will remain available, there will be no access in early August when we roll over our class lists from one year to the next.

If you have any questions or need assistance with login information, please contact your school’s main office.

Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer!

new lunch snack items
zoom_out_map

New at AMS: A la carte menu items

Beginning late next week, we will offer a la carte snack items for purchase through the lunch lines. The items sold will include baked chips ($1.50), chocolate chip cookies ($1.25), and sparkling water ($2.00). There are a few rules around how much and when students can purchase the items:

  • Students with a negative lunch balance will not be allowed to purchase these items
  • Students may only purchase one of each type of item per day (i.e. only one bag of chips, one cookie, and one drink)
  • If a student is only purchasing a snack item, and not a hot lunch, that student must wait until students getting their hot lunch have been served, then they can enter the lunch line to purchase their snack (we want to prioritize students getting their meals)
  • The prices listed above will be consistent for everyone, regardless of whether the student receives free/reduced lunch prices
  • Students must use money loaded on to their account for the snack items; we do not accept cash
