LOCKERS LOCKERS

With school quickly approaching, we are sending this to provide a few updates on the use of lockers and locker expectations at Lineville Intermediate School.

First of all, we will continue to not have locks on our lockers. Since we implemented this a few years ago, it has allowed for faster access to lockers which alleviated crowding in the hallways. Students have been very mindful of staying out of others' lockers and we will work to continue this in the upcoming school year. However, we do encourage students to keep valuables at home.

Secondly, we will do our best to provide each student with a locker in close proximity to their house classrooms. Unfortunately, with 800+ students each year that cannot happen for all students. 5th Grade Students will be given a locker near their house location, while this will vary for 6th Graders. This allows us to provide them with a gradual release of responsibility from their 5th grade to 6th grade year. Please know though that we will provide them with ample time to get to class from their lockers.

Lastly, in the past, students have found it very helpful to have small locker stands in their locker to create extra stacking space. This will again be permitted, knowing that our lockers are just under 12” wide and roughly 50” tall (to the bottom of the top shelf). Decorations will be permitted on the inside, so long as they are only fastened to the locker with magnets. Adhesive tapes, wallpaper, etc. will not be allowed. In addition, students will not be permitted to draw on lockers at any time.

Please reach out with any questions that you may have about this. We look forward to seeing all the fabulously decorated lockers in the fall!

E-BIKE AND E-SCOOTER SAFETY REMINDERS E-BIKE AND E-SCOOTER SAFETY REMINDERS

E-bikes and e-scooters have become increasingly popular. To ensure the safety of our students, especially during drop-off and pick-up times on school property, we encourage students to walk their e-bikes and e-scooters.

As the district prioritizes safety of our students, we have developed a policy to maintain safe campuses. Of note, Administrative Policy 5514 states:

  • "The operator of a personal transportation device must observe all safety laws and rules, display courtesy and consideration toward others, and must abide by this policy as well as all laws and ordinances regarding the operation of the relevant device."

  • "Operating or bringing a personal transportation device on District property is a privilege and not a right. An administrator may temporarily or permanently revoke such privilege to the extent that a personal transportation device is operated in a negligent, reckless, or other manner that creates a risk of harm to the operator or others, or in a fashion that otherwise fails to comply with safety rules, laws, or ordinances."

  • "Upon the request of an administrator, the operator of an electronic powered transportation device will dismount the device and walk the device to the appropriate storage area."

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
