Tiger Tracks
October 4, 2025
Dear NLABC Families,
October is here, and with it comes cooler mornings and the excitement of fall learning! Thank you for continuing to support your children and our school community as we move into this busy season.
As the weather changes, please make sure your child comes to school with the appropriate winter gear: coats, hats, gloves, and boots as needed. Students go outside for recess rain or snow til 10 Below, and being prepared helps them stay comfortable and ready to learn.
This month also brings Parent-Teacher Conferences. Attendance is very important, as these conversations are a key way to strengthen the school-home connection and support your child’s success. Teachers look forward to sharing your child’s progress and partnering with you to set goals for the year ahead.
You can also view your child’s beginning-of-year assessment results by logging into the Parent Portal. This information provides a snapshot of your child’s current learning and helps guide instruction as we move forward. If you have any questions about what you see, your child’s teacher will be glad to go over the details with you during conferences.
We will end the month with Red Ribbon Week, a schoolwide celebration of saying “No” to drugs and making healthy choices. At the same time, we will begin preparing for our traditional Thanksgiving Feast. As part of this tradition, please start planning a costume that remembers the great heroes of history. We look forward to seeing the creativity and learning that comes from this special event.
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. Together, we are building a year of growth, learning, and joy for our Tigers.
With appreciation,
Dorissa Martin

Lunchtime Update for 1st & 2nd Grade
Beginning second quarter, 1st and 2nd grade students will return to eating lunch in the cafeteria. This decision came after continued conversations with teachers and discussion at the recent Parent Advisory Committee meeting. While both classroom and cafeteria settings have benefits, we felt it was important to collaborate with the committee and honor the tradition of gathering together in the cafeteria.
We know many students are excited about this experience as a special rite of passage with their peers, and we look forward to supporting them in this transition. To help lunchtime run smoothly, we welcome and appreciate volunteers who are willing to assist in the cafeteria.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping NLABC traditions strong!
Philosophical Corner
At NLABC, our dress code is an extension of our Philosophical Agreement and commitment to the Character Building Blocks. We believe that the way students present themselves reflects respect for learning, responsibility to our community, and pride in our school. By following the dress code, students practice self-discipline, humility, and integrity, values that support both academic focus and character growth. Our dress standards are designed not only to create a distraction-free environment, but also to reinforce the habits and mindset that prepare students for success beyond the classroom.

🙌 Shout outs! 🙌
The Boys Basketball JV team is wrapping up a successful season and is looking forward to the end of season tournament on Oct. 4th at Gruening. The first game is at 11 am.
The Boys Basketball C team wrapped up a season that saw them learn how to be a good teammate, focus on fundamentals and enjoy playing the game of Basketball.
Parent / Family Support
A big Shout Out to the volunteers who made the Jog-A-Thon another successful event. Zoya Stephens and Coach Reale were amazing doing all of the work that we have typically hired for. Because of them, several thousand dollars were saved. The students had so much fun, and it was a joy watching all of the intermediate students supporting the primary students. It was an event that fostered our Character Building Blocks and made everyone smile.
Texas Roadhouse continues to be a place where NLABC makes a name for ourselves. Ms. Bev does a great job supporting us and I know Andy Armadillo loves it when we take over. Thank you for being intentional and supporting our school. We hope that you enjoyed your dinner.
💗 With gratitude🙏
Thank you to our community members for their donations towards our NLABC curriculum pilot.
