MDE Redesigning Assessment Reports – Your Voice Matters!

Do you have ideas about how the statewide assessment results, like the MCA, could be shared with the public and school and district staff?

MDE is beginning the process of redesigning the statewide assessment reports. This includes evaluating how student results are organized and communicated (including the labels like "does not meet” or β€œexceeds" the standards, and what the reports will look like for new academic standards). The redesigned reports will be seen for the first time in summer and fall 2025.

Please take the survey to share your experience. It should take no longer than 15 minutes. The survey is now open for submissions until May 19. Responses are completely anonymous.

Your voice is important to this process. We appreciate your time and consideration.

Please reach out to mde.testing@state.mn.us with any questions or concerns about the survey or feedback process.

🏫 Picking up your student during school hours 🏫

Please note that when students have to leave during the day, they will remain with their class until their pick-up person has arrived and either called the office or buzzed the door. Due to confidentiality and students not getting picked up at their specified time, we can not have children waiting in the office. Please understand that if you need them at a specific time for an appointment, you may need to come a few minutes earlier so we have time to get them from their classroom.

Reading: A Foundation for Success Reading: A Foundation for Success

Every week we will pass along some tips for reading with your children.

Start a family library so your child can enjoy favorite books again and again. Of course, few families can afford to buy every book their children like. But with a little planning, you can have a library that will spark your child's interest in reading. Here's how.

  • Choose paperback books. To make them last, cover them with clear contact paper.
  • Encourage your child to swap books with friends. Host a "read-in" in your neighborhood. Have each child bring a favorite book. Afterward, they can exchange or borrow books.
  • Buy used books. You can often find gently used books at a very reasonable price. Visit used book shops and websites that sell secondhand books. Look for yard sales and garage sales.
  • Give books for gifts. Establish a family tradition of giving books for holidays and birthdays. If you're not sure which book to choose, give a gift certificate to a bookstore.

Lunchroom/Playground Help

Lunchroom/Playground Help

We would love to have your help! Whether one day a week or a couple of hours here and there, we could use some additional help opening milk containers, wiping down tables, and building relationships with kids! If you love spending time outdoors, we could use some help supervising out on the playground.
