Hi Harlan Families!

I know I’ve said this a few times, but it truly can’t just be me… where is the time going?! How is it already December 1st? We are literally days away from a brand-new year!

As we wrap up 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect and set intentions. Are there any areas you’d like to improve? Need support with routines, goals, or planning for the year ahead?

You’re welcome to schedule time with me, Mrs. Jacobs, your Community Schools Coordinator (302-484-0678). Bring your laundry to Harlan, and while it’s washing, we can work together on the Wheel of Life, a resource that helps us set balanced, meaningful goals for the year ahead.

Families interested in applying for School Choice for the 2026–2027 school year can now submit applications online at www.SchoolChoiceDE.org.

• The application window is open until January 14, 2026.
  
  

• Kindergarten applications remain open through the first day of school.
  
  

• 5th and 8th grade families: If your student wants to attend a middle or high school outside of their feeder school, you’ll need to submit a new application during this window.

Did you know that the Brandywine School District offers Gifted Education Services for students who demonstrate exceptional creativity, academic achievement, and task commitment?

Families, students, and teachers may submit student referrals between December 1, 2025, and January 30, 2026. All referral forms and instructions will be available on the district website during that time.

✅ Only one referral is needed to begin the review process.
📅 All referred students will be reviewed in the spring, and families will receive decisions by email no later than May 31, 2026.

For students entering 6th grade next school year, the review process will be completed before the middle school choice deadline, allowing families to make informed decisions for the 2026–27 school year.
