A MESSAGE FROM MRS. PITTSER, SUPERINTENDENT
Spring is approaching, and we are excited about ongoing learning processes, both indoors and outdoors when weather permits. Please join us in witnessing some “Mission Moments” where students embrace “opportunities” and foster “relationships” - both integral aspects of our mission statement.
As the third quarter comes to an end, many teachers are wrapping up curriculum standards within their pacing guides and preparing for year-end measures. These assessments include both local and state-level components. We encourage you to check out the testing schedules available on the district website for more information.

DISTRICT WELLNESS COMMITTEE
The Miami Trace Wellness Committee is committed to fostering and maintaining a healthy school community. In collaboration with Adena Health Systems and our FCPH nurses, the committee meets on a monthly basis to evaluate progress on the District Wellness Plan. Areas of the plan include:
- Education & Communication
- Health Services
- Mental Health Services
- Environment
To promote health and wellness among Miami Trace employees, the committee launched its second 30-Day Wellness Challenge of the school year. This initiative featured daily objectives like eating nutritious snacks between meals or walking 9,000 steps. Congratulations to the most recent Challenge Winners!
Another outcome from the collaborative efforts of the District Wellness Committee, is the presence of the Adena Mobile Clinic.
The mobile unit is designed to help medical providers deliver care to students at participating school districts. With parent/guardian permission, students can receive an array of health and wellness services in a convenient mobile setting on campus.
Services include:
- Treatment for sore throat, cough, earache, headache or asthma
- Sports & work permit physicals
- Immunizations
- Blood work
- Prescriptions and pharmacy needs

Allergies or Illness?
With spring and warmer weather quickly approaching, it is important to know about some common
spring illnesses and how those differ from seasonal allergies.
Symptoms of seasonal allergies include:
- Congestion
- Runny nose with thin, watery discharge
- Sneezing
- Weakness and fatigue
Some common spring illnesses include the common cold, flu, stomach bug, strep throat, and pink eye. These differ from seasonal allergies and are all illnesses that may require a visit to your doctor.
If you have any health-related questions or concerns, contact your school clinic to speak with any of our nurses.
