From the Principal From the Principal

Happy Friday TC Community,

We are excited to welcome Superintendent Shuldiner on Monday morning as he rounds out his “100 Days and 100(ish) Schools” tour across Seattle Public Schools. He will end his visits with Thornton Creek and Decatur, and I could not be more excited to show him our greatness and welcome him into our sweet community. We will be sure to share pictures! Isn’t there a saying about saving the best for last? Wink wink.

Thank you to everyone who has donated items for our Home and Hygiene Drive. These donations go directly to supporting our families and strengthening our community. The drive continues through next week, so if you happen to be at the store and are able to grab an extra item or two, we would be incredibly grateful. Items such as toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, deodorant, body wash, and other household essentials are greatly appreciated. Here's a wish list for shopping ease.

And finally, Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmas, aunts, caregivers, and all the women who make a meaningful impact in the lives of children. I hope you are celebrated with love, joy, and sunshine this Sunday.

Warmly,
Brandee

Snacks!

We have no snacks for children who forget theirs/are super hungry. If you have any extra, easy to grab, and go snacks to share, we'd love them. Drop off snacks to the office. Thank you!

From Kristen in the Library | All books due no later than Friday, June 12th.

The end of the year is so near! That means library services are shutting down in a few weeks, so here’s your heads up! Final library classes and student book checkouts are on May 29th. All books should be returned no later than Friday, June 12 -- but earlier is super helpful! Thank you.

Thornton Creek Home and Hygiene Drive | Today - May 15

Hello Dragonfly Families! Thornton Creek’s Community Pantry helps supply our families with food staples, cleaning supplies, and other household essentials every day of the school year.

  • Wish list for shopping ease.
Currently our pantry is in dire need of home and hygiene products that are less frequently available at food banks, such as laundry detergent, paper towels, toothbrushes, and soap. While the pantry is always open for these donations during school hours throughout the year, we are holding a Home & Hygiene Essentials Drive to raise awareness of our community’s needs. Donations can be dropped off at the front office Today – May 15. Thank you for your support!

🌸 Mother’s Day Flower Fundraiser – Pick Up at Thornton Creek! 🌸 Thornton Creek is excited to serve as a pickup site for the SPS Mother’s Day Weekend Flower Fundraiser! This is a wonderful opportunity to support both our school and the broader SPS community. Families can purchase beautiful bouquets while giving back—$10 from each bouquet will go directly to Thornton Creek, supporting our school’s Food Pantry, and another $10 will go toward supporting Title I schools across the district. We are especially grateful to our TC families who are volunteering their time to help host pickup and make this event possible. Thank you for supporting our community and helping this effort bloom! 🌷

Photos of the Week Photos of the Week

Great work Kindergarten and First grade sharing in our assembly this week! We loved the bird riddles and really enjoyed the rhythm and music. Also shout out to Angela and Kristina's class; I love getting to pop in for a read aloud the other day, + 3rd Grade goes to Carkeek Park in search of beaver evidence.
