Library/Makerspace News📚
During the months of January and February, 8th Grade Honors SS students were very busy researching a Reformer/Civics Issue that culminated in an Elevator Pitch and a Long Essay Question. This project is an important part in the development of the essential research skills students will need to put them on a pathway to earn the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness in high school if they so choose, and be successful in future AP history classes and the AP Capstone course
The 8th grade SS Honors teachers, and Mrs. Jakubowsky, are so proud of all of our students for their diligence and professionalism during this project. Great job!
The Makerspace has been busy during February and March with LEGO Competitions! Students are participating in our version of "March Madness," as they complete different LEGO challenges every two days during library lunch time. Library staff votes on the best designs to see who will move up in the brackets and eventually compete in the penultimate round! Best of luck to all of our builders!
Yearbook Cover Winner!
Congratulations to Kiley Hare, the winner of the 2025-2026 Yearbook cover! Beautiful job, Kiley!
Caught Being Kind
Congratulations to all of our students who were CAUGHT BEING KIND during the month of February! We are so proud of you, keep spreading your kindness everywhere!
💜 P.S. I Love You Day 💜
Be the Light
On February 13, Great Hollow celebrated P.S. I Love You Day. This year’s theme was: “Be the Light.” The school was decked out in purple and students and faculty focused on messages of kindness. As always, a lot of planning went into making P.S. I Love You Day a huge success. Thank you to Mrs. Stone and the rest of our Faculty Culture Club, our Honor Society advisors, and student volunteers for planning, decorating and setting up for this event.
THANK YOU, Custodial Staff! ⛄
Blizzard of 2026!
On Monday, February 23, we had a historic amount of snow fall on Long Island! Our custodial staff, with assistance from the District's Facilities Department, worked tirelessly to clean our school walkways and parking lots to make it safe for us to return to school on Wednesday. We would like to extend a Great Hollow "THANK YOU!" to all who were here to clean the school grounds!
