Greetings Patriot Families,

This week students will engage in a personalized learning day on Friday, September 4, 2026. Teachers will provide assignments for students to complete and submit on Friday. Any student who does not submit their assignments on Friday will be marked as "non-participating" for the day. Please look for communication from your child's teachers regarding how these assignments will be facilitated. As a reminder, progress reports will be available on September 8th via Infinite Campus. You can find a listing of all progress reporting dates for the Fall semester further down in this newsletter.

We are encouraging full student and teacher participation this Thursday, September 3rd as students think about where they would like to go to college. All students are encouraged to wear a shirt that represents where they are interested in attending college and all teachers and staff will wear gear from where they graduated college. We are hoping this act will spark meaningful conversations about different college and university options and allow students to hear first hand about each experience.

📚 Congratulations to Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Morrison, and our Math Team! Our students placed in the top three in all grade levels and Nam Tran was the overall winner for the Morehouse College Math Competition.

  • Overall Winner: Nam Tran
  • 9th Grade: Cat-Lan Hoang – 3rd Place
  • 10th Grade: Bryan Ogbannu – 1st; Joshua Francis – 2nd; Elianna Monteith – 3rd
  • 11th Grade: Arnav Gupta – 1st; Mac-Lan Hoang – 3rd
  • 12th Grade: Simon Morano – 1st; Ameen Dayisi – 2nd

We are incredibly proud of all of our students for their hard work and for representing Sandy Creek High School!

🏈 Congratulations to Coach Smiley and our Varsity Football team for their shut out performance against Douglas County High School winning 21-0! This week, our team will travel on the road to face N. Clayton High School on Friday, September 4th at 7:30pm. Let's pack their house just like we showed up last week and support our reigning State Champions!

🥎 Congratulations to Coach Chisolm and our Varsity Softball team who defeated Langston Hughes High School 19-11, at home and Westlake High School last week, 21-2. Our Lady Patriots will play at home this week on Monday at 5:30 against Trinity, Tuesday at 7:00pm against Fayette County High School, and Thursday at 6:00pm against McDonough High School.

Please come out and support our student athletes at home this week. A schedule of all of our events can be found further down in our "Weekly Happenings" section.

Here’s to a powerful start and a year where we will Do Hard Things!

We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

This year, applications are open to Georgia public school students in grades 10-12 (including charter and virtual students). To broaden student voice, Superintendent Woods will also invite two homeschool students and two private school students to participate.

New Parent Drop Off and Bus Arrival/Dismissal Procedures New Parent Drop Off and Bus Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Please note that we have updated our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures. These changes are intended to separate parent vehicles from student drivers, creating a safer environment for students as they cross the street and enter the building.

Bus Arrival/Dismissal:

Students who ride the bus will be dropped off and picked up in the back of the school behind the cafeteria.

Student Drivers:
Students who drive to school must park only in the designated student parking lot and display a valid parking pass on their rearview mirror. After parking, students should use the designated sidewalk adjacent to the student parking lot and remain on that path when entering the cafeteria each morning. Students are not permitted to park in the faculty parking lot. Violators will lose their parking privilege and have a sticker placed on their vehicle.

Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up:
Parent drop-off and pick-up will now take place at the front entrance of the school through the faculty parking lot. Please follow the traffic flow indicated by the arrows in the diagram below. To help ensure that faculty and staff can arrive and begin the school day on time, we ask that parents refrain from parking in faculty parking spaces during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

We appreciate your cooperation, patience, and support as we implement these updated procedures. Thank you for partnering with us to help make our arrival and dismissal process as safe and efficient as possible for all students and staff.

Electronic Device Policy Electronic Device Policy

At Sandy Creek High School, we are committed to creating a learning environment where every student can thrive. To support a strong and focused start to the school year, students may not use personal electronic devices including cell phones, earbuds/headphones, Meta glasses, smart watches, or similar devices, during the school day. This expectation applies in all areas of the building, including classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, gym/locker rooms, and restrooms. By minimizing distractions and maximizing opportunities for engagement, we are helping our students build meaningful connections, remain present in their learning, and begin the year with the habits that lead to success. We appreciate your partnership and support as we work together to provide every student with a positive learning experience.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.

  • Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
  • Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
  • After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.

Parents of Rising 11th grade Students

As your child transitions to the 11th grade, we want to ensure their health and safety remains our top priority. This is a reminder regarding the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) booster dose requirement for students who have turned 16 years old.

According to the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines, students are due for one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday.

Please note that the DPH will be conducting an audit of 11th-grade students at SCHS on September 2, 2026. To facilitate compliance and ensure your child's participation in school activities is not disrupted, we kindly urge you to take this opportunity to schedule your child's vaccination appointment before September 2, 2026.
