February is Career and Technical Education Month!
Career and Technical Education plays a vital role in preparing students for the demands of today’s job market. Unlike traditional classroom learning, CTE programs focus on practical application, helping students develop industry-specific skills that make them competitive candidates for employment. Additionally, these programs offer opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, and certifications that give students a head start in their chosen fields.
By participating in CTE courses, students can explore various career options while still in high school, allowing them to make informed decisions about their future. Many programs also provide pathways to postsecondary education, ensuring students are well-prepared for further academic pursuits if they choose to continue their studies. At PWHS, we offer co-curricular coursework in Business, Finance, and Administration; Construction Technology to include Geometry in Construction; Coding, Robotics, Engineering, and Cybersecurity; Multimedia to include Broadcast Journalism, Photography, and Graphic Design; Health Science to include Biomedical Engineering; Law and Justice; and Automotive. All of these pathways allow students to also participate in community service and compete as part of Career and Technical Student Organizations. You may click on the images below to find out more information about each organization.
