Hello Park Terrace families!

We are getting ready for a new school year, and I am excited to see everyone! I hope you had a great summer and are ready for a wonderful year ahead.

The first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2026. We are including important things to know before the first day.

Meet Your Teacher Event – Wednesday, August 26, 4-6 p.m.

Come meet your child's teacher, see the classroom and drop off school supplies. We look forward to welcoming you! If you can, please come at your time:

  • 4-5 p.m. - students with last names starting with A-M
  • 5-6 p.m. – students with the last names starting with N-Z

Before the event, watch for a welcome message from your student’s teacher. I really hope all of our students can join us to meet their teacher and see our school!

We offer a sensory friendly event Wednesday, August 26, 1-1:30 p.m. This will have less people, dimmer lights, and no music. If you have questions, contact Anne Jenkauski at 763-600-5676 or ajenka@district16.org.

Visit the Back-to-School Hub

Everything you need to get ready is at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/BackToSchool. You also should have received a back-to-school checklist by email or text on August 5. Find:

  • School supply lists
  • The Education Benefits application
  • Learning Ventures before- and after-school care information
  • iPad preparation instructions
  • And more

Bus riders

If your child rides the bus, bus stop information, pickup times and drop-off times are expected to be mailed the week of August 17. This information will also be available in Campus Parent Portal. Information about accessing Campus Parent Portal is available on the Technology Tools, Resources and Log Ins page.

If your child is a regular bus rider, please plan for them to ride the bus on the first day of school. This helps students learn the routine and allows our transportation team to make any needed adjustments early in the year.

Download the MyStop App, with live bus GPS, to see bus locations and estimated time of arrival at bus stops. This is very helpful on the first days of school when bus times may vary.

Car riders and walkers

If you will drop off or pick up your child, please follow these procedures to help keep everyone safe.

  • Drop off: Follow the line of cars. Please do not pull ahead of other vehicles and stay in your car to keep the line moving efficiently. Watch carefully for students and families crossing the street. Students may be dropped off at the front entrance starting at 9 a.m. Students will go to their classrooms at 9:10 a.m. Until then, staff will supervise them in the gym. Do not drop your children off before 9 a.m. as there is no supervision before that time.
  • Pick up: Please stay in your car during dismissal. Follow the line of cars along the south side of the parking lot. A staff member will ask for your child's name and grade and let staff inside know your child is ready. As you move closer to the main entrance, your child will come outside to meet you. Watch carefully for students and families crossing the street. Please be in the car line by 4 p.m. If you cannot arrive by 4 p.m., please arrange other child care or have your child ride the bus.
  • Parking and walking: You may park and walk to the building to pick up your child. As you approach the school, a staff member will ask for your child's name and let staff inside know your child is ready. After meeting your child, use the crosswalk to return to your vehicle. Keep your child close as you walk through the parking lot.

Mark your calendar: Watch for more information in September

  • Passport to Learning Night: Everyone is welcome at this event on September 17 from 5-6:30 p.m. Explore our school and a day in the life of your student.
  • Fall picture days! Picture days are October 1 and 2.
  • PTO Meeting: Our first meeting of the year will be October 7 at 5 p.m. in the Park Terrace media center. Please join us to meet families and staff and support our school.

School hours and important contacts

  • Main office hours: 8 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.
  • School hours: 9:20 a.m. - 3:55 p.m.
  • Main office: 763-600-5600
  • Attendance line: 763-600-5609

I look forward to seeing you all soon!
