PTO Ice Cream Social Today!
A note From Mr. Berg
Cedar Island,
As we inch closer to the conclusion of another school year, I want to take a moment to express my sincere thanks to our incredible Cedar Island families and community. This year was filled with learning, growth, celebration, and connection. It also had its share of adversity, challenges, and unexpected curveballs. Through it all, our community remained united and committed to one another, helping make the year a success. None of it would have been possible without your partnership and support.
This year we created lasting memories through events such as the Bobcat Bash, the Fun Run, Turkey Bingo, our Valentine's Day celebration, book fairs, Bobcat Best assemblies, field trips, concerts, and many other events. These experiences help make Cedar Island such a special place for students, and they happen because of the time, energy, and generosity of so many people.
Whether you volunteered in classrooms, chaperoned field trips, donated materials, attended conferences, supported learning at home, or simply stayed engaged in your child's education, your contributions made a real difference. Strong schools are built on strong partnerships, and I am grateful for the trust and support you show in our staff and students each day.
I would also like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated PTO. Their creativity and countless hours of service continue to enrich the educational experience for our students and provide opportunities and resources that help our school flourish. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a committed group of parent leaders supporting Cedar Island.
As I finish my second year as principal of Cedar Island, I find myself reflecting on three overarching feelings: gratitude, pride, and hope. I am grateful for the partnership and trust that our community continues to show in our school. I am proud of what our students, staff, and families accomplished together this year and of the caring, supportive community we continue to build at Cedar Island. And I am hopeful for the future, knowing that the same kindness and dedication that carried us through this year will continue to help our students thrive in the years ahead. It is truly an honor to serve as your principal, and I do not take for granted being part of such an exceptional community.
On behalf of our Cedar Island staff, thank you for a wonderful year. We wish all our families a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall for another great year at Cedar Island.
Go Bobcats!

School Supplies for Next Year
2026-27 Cedar Island families:
We're excited to share that the Cedar Island PTO will once again purchase school supplies for students next school year*. This approach ensures that:
- Each child starts the year with the same, high-quality materials.
- Reduces stress for families.
- Allows us to take advantage of bulk pricing to keep costs low.
To help cover these supplies, we are asking families for a suggested donation of $30/student. This contribution is optional, but every dollar directly supports the materials your child will receive on their first day of school. Details on how to contribute will be shared in August via email and at open house.
Please note that while the PTO covers classroom supplies, families will still need to provide the following personal items:
- Large backpack (double straps, no wheels)
- Lunchbox (if desired)
- Wired headphones (no bluetooth/wireless)
- Ziploc bag with child's name on it (to store headphones)
Questions: Contact Ashley Funke (awisnie2@gmail.com).
Thank you for supporting our students and helping us create a smooth, equitable start to the school year. Your generosity truly makes a difference!
*Note: Kindergarten school supplies will be purchased by Cedar Island, not the PTO. We will communicate those details separately; stay tuned if you also have an incoming Kindergartener!

New ParentVUE App
The familiar ParentVUE and StudentVUE apps used by Osseo Area Schools have gotten an updated look, and current versions of the app will sunset June 30, 2026. Please take a moment to download the new apps, which can be found under the names “StudentVUE (New)” or “ParentVUE (New)” in the Apple or Android store. The developer is Edupoint Educational Systems.
The new StudentVUE/ParentVUE apps feature a more intuitive, user-friendly design with new and improved functionality, such as event security passes and improvements to attendance reporting options.
Switching to the new, updated app is simple – just delete the old version and download the new one. The new app will walk users through any setup steps to follow. For assistance, please reach out to the district’s technology support team via IncidentIQ.
