A Message from Principal Woofter A Message from Principal Woofter

We had an incredible Day 1 of our annual Talent Show today! I am so impressed by the courage and confidence our students have to share their talents in front of the school. Our first through third graders truly owned the stage and entertained the audience with their skills. I know our fourth and fifth graders will do the same tomorrow!

Earlier this month, we conducted our winter administration of the MAP assessment for both ELA and Math. The MAP Growth score reports will be distributed to families via ParentSquare tomorrow, February 27. Each report will include your student’s assessment results, along with detailed information explaining how to interpret the data and an overview of the MAP assessment. We look forward to having our students and staff engage with this comprehensive data as we continue to support strong academic growth across our school community.

We are wrapping up Kindness month this week - though we learn about and celebrate acts of Kindness all year long! You may remember that I mentioned we were going to start a Kindness chain with each link representing an act of kindness in the month of February. A big thank you to Ms. Ham who has been creating our chain, it goes back and forth across the hallway from our Learning Lab past the library which is over 400 links as of this report!

Just a reminder, Trimester 2 will be ending next Friday, March 6. There is no school on Monday, March 9 so teachers can work on student grades.

Kindly,

Sarah

A Message from our School Resource Officer A Message from our School Resource Officer

As your School Resource Officer, your child’s safety on campus, and on the way to and from school is always my top priority. Please review the following regarding bicycle safety and car seat requirements in the State of Oregon.

Child Car Seat Requirements (ORS 811.210)

  • Under 2 years of age: Rear-facing car seat.
  • Age 2+ and under 40 lbs: Forward-facing car seat appropriate for age/size.
  • Over 40 lbs and under 4'9": Booster seat ensuring proper lap and shoulder belt fit.
  • After meeting height/weight requirements OR at age 8: Children may transition to the vehicle’s standard seat and seatbelt.
  • In Oregon, no specific law sets a minimum age for front-seat riding, but it’s safest for children to ride in the back until age 13.
  • Rear-facing seats must never be placed in the front seat.

Bicycles, E-Bikes & Other Wheeled Devices

  • Helmets are required for all children under 16 when using bikes, scooters, skateboards, or rollerblades. Failure to do so can result in a $25 citation issued to you, or your child (age dependent). (ORS 814.485 & 814.600)
  • E-bikes and e-scooters are not legal for riders under 16 unless on private property. State legislation is still working to implement specific statutes to address this newer technology
  • An e-bike must have working pedals for human propulsion. Without pedals, it is NOT an E-bike. It is considered a moped or motorcycle and must follow different laws. (ORS 801.258)
