Some thoughts for the starting school year

Middle School Choice Sheets
Students will be completing their "choice sheets" this week to prepare for next year by selecting the classes and electives they might be interested in. I have attached a template of what the choice sheet may look like for rising 7th and 8th grade students. Parents, please keep an eye out as your student will be provided with a copy for your reference!

Dallas ISD is sending all 7th grade students to the Perot Museum on Monday January 26th. Field trip permission slips are being sent home with students, but we understand that sometimes those things get lost! Please complete this form so that 100% of our students can enjoy this experience!
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
BUC of the WEEK
Ms. Etorma has entered JL Long with grit and resilience. She upholds our values for students and models determination in her classroom to improve systems and instruction. Shout out to Ms. Etorma for being our BUC OF THE WEEK!
Uniform Corner
In order to better communicate with all stakeholders about our updated uniform protocols. I have attached images of approved JL Long Uniform apparel. Due to parent concerns, Long is allowing for leggings under shorts or skirts due to cold weather approaching. The shorts or skirt worn over leggings must be appropriate length. Sweatpants are not permitted as appropriate bottoms. Pajamas, jeans, or other spirit days will be announced through out the year to reward our students.
All students should be in approved grade level polo shirts. Black polos are not permitted as they are not part of our approved campus dress code.
All students at Long are expected to be in uniform. We want to uphold strong expectations as we know our students can rise to them. Additionally, JL Long is committed to not just accountability, but coaching our student along the way.
Please email me directly if you would like further clarification. It is my commitment to this community to uphold our core values of excellence.
Best,
Kelsey Cronin, Proud Principal
