Welcome To Week NINE!
Dear Brahma Family,
Two weeks ago, HOPE (the Hispanic Organization for the Promotion of Education) and the HOPE student club hosted Hispanic Heritage Month Movie Night. The movie they selected was A Million Milles Away, which is the inspirational story of NASA Astronaut, José Hernández. Mr. Hernández is the child of migrant farmworkers in California who worked alongside his parents in the fields as a child. He grew up to become an engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and then an astronaut who served as the mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-128). Thank you to HOPE, and to the advisors of the HOPE student club for a great evening. I highly recommend the film to all of you.
Congratulations to our Girls Golf Team for winning the inaugural Tony McCabe Cup at Upland Hills Country Club on Monday. The Brahmas shot 385 to win by 12 shots over the second-place team, Troy HS. Tony and I coached golf together for several years in the late nineties and early two-thousands. No one is more committed to Brahma Athletics than Tony and he is well deserving of the honor of having a golf tournament named after him.
