Eagle Ridge- eThursday Folder
January 29, 2026
Message From the Principal-
Itβs a great day to be an Eagle!
Today is Thankful Thursday, and as we head into February and find ourselves right in the middle of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to share how grateful I am for the many amazing things I have seen at Eagle Ridge so far this year.
At Eagle Ridge, I truly believe that the best thing you can be is the best version of you, and I see that happening every single day. Our students continue to impress me with their hard work, kindness, and determination. Whether they are learning new skills, supporting one another, or taking on challenges with a positive attitude, their growth and effort are something to celebrate.
I am incredibly thankful for our dedicated teachers and staff who work tirelessly each day to create a supportive, engaging, and welcoming learning environment for all students. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our volunteers and our amazing PTA. Your time, energy, and commitment have helped make this school year so special. The many events and opportunities you have provided have brought our community together and created lasting memories for our students and families.
As we continue through the rest of the school year, I am excited to see our students keep growing and shining. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I am truly thankful to be part of such a caring, hardworking, and connected Eagle Ridge family.

CogAT Testing
Click on the text below to complete a referral form.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
DCSD is committed to implementing equitable practices to increase access to advanced/gifted learning opportunities. Based on state and national recommendations and requirements, we implement Universal Screening for students in 2nd grade (February).
2nd Grade Universal Screen
As part of this process, ALL students in 2nd grade not identified for gifted programming will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) the week of February 2nd. This assessment indicates the level and pattern of cognitive development of a student in comparison to grade and age mates. These general reasoning abilities, which start developing at birth and continue through early adulthood, are influenced by experiences gained both in and out of school.
If your child is already identified for gifted programming, they will not participate in this universal screen testing. Your Gifted Education Facilitator will contact you directly with information about this process.
Kindergarten/ 1st Grade Gifted Identification Referral Testing
If your child is in K or 1st grade and you believe he/she needs evaluation for Gifted Identification and Services, you may refer your child for testing by initiating the Gifted Identification Process.
NOTE: Requesting this assessment automatically initiates the process to evaluate for Gifted Identification.
Please request CogAT testing for your child by completing the Referral for Gifted Identification linked HERE
Upon receipt of this form the Gifted Education Facilitator will connect with you to discuss next steps in the gifted identification process.
