"I recognize, experience, and appreciate the beauty around me and the skill of others, and it inspires me."

Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence means noticing and enjoying the amazing things all around you—and feeling something special because of them.

It can show up in a few different ways:

  • Beauty - You might notice a colorful sunset, a beautiful song, or even a cool pattern in math. It makes you feel happy, calm, or full of wonder.
  • Excellence (Skill or Talent) - You might see someone play a sport really well, create awesome art, or solve a tricky problem. It makes you think, “Wow, that’s amazing!” and might even inspire you to try your best too.
  • Kindness & Good Choices - You might see someone help a friend, include others, or do the right thing. It makes you feel proud, inspired, and want to be a better person.

This past week has provided many opportunities for us to pause and appreciate the people, experiences, and community around us.

Earlier this week, our Boone Meadow Voices delivered a wonderful musical experience as they performed for students during the school day and later for families that evening. We are so proud of the hard work, talent, and confidence our students demonstrated on stage. Likewise, our 3rd graders participated in their Zionsville History Tour, deepening their understanding of the community we call home after a yearlong learning experience centered on local history and culture.

In addition, Teacher Appreciation Week has been incredibly special. Our staff has felt so much love, encouragement, and support from families, our PTO, and the greater Boone Meadow community. Thank you for the thoughtful cards, kind words, treats, and generosity shared throughout the week. As our Lifeline of the Month is Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence, this week served as a wonderful reminder of the care and commitment that surrounds our school community each day. A special thank you to our PTO for helping celebrate our staff with lunch, Fundaes Ice Cream, and many additional treats and surprises throughout the week!

As we look ahead to the final weeks of school, please note the following reminders and updates:

  • All-School Field Trip – Holliday Park (May 20)
We are excitedly preparing for this special shared experience for all Boone Meadow students. A few classrooms are still in need of chaperones, so if you hear from your child’s teacher, please consider joining us. Permission slips will be sent next week through ParentSquare and should be completed as soon as possible. Thank you for helping make this day both meaningful and memorable for our students.
  • NWEA Assessments (K–2 Only)
Students in grades K–2 will complete NWEA assessments over the next couple of weeks. These assessments provide one additional layer of information to help us better understand student growth and guide instruction moving forward.
  • School Supply Pre-Orders Now Open
Planning ahead for next year? School supply pre-orders are now available for your convenience. Supplies can be delivered directly to Boone Meadow, making back-to-school preparation simple and stress-free. Please note this is simply a service provided for families, and no profit is made by the school or PTO. Ordering details and links are included below.
  • Family Input Survey - The survey is open until May 11th. Click here to open and to share your feedback: BME Family Input (Spring 2026) - optional – Fill out form

See below for more information on:

  • Student Registrations (Due May 28)
  • Student Account Balances
  • ZCHS Finale!
  • School Health Clinic Information (medications, pick up, immunization records, etc...)

Finally, on Monday evening we will celebrate our very own Melissa Tuttila at the school board meeting as Boone Meadow’s Teacher of the Year! Congratulations, Melissa, and thank you for the incredible impact you make on students, families, and staff each day.

Thank you again for sharing such a wonderful week with us. We appreciate you and are grateful for the partnership and support that make Boone Meadow such a special place. Have a great weekend!

Please follow the instructions you received in the personalized email from Zionsville Community Schools earlier this week. Registration information is vital for ensuring that you receive information about the 2026-2027 school year, for maintaining records to ensure student safety, and in compliance reporting required of us on behalf of all enrolled students (for various state and local agencies). Please remember that this notification may have been sent to multiple parent/guardian contacts. Only ONE registration record may be submitted for each student. A parent/guardian who starts a registration for a student becomes the only registrant possible for that student.

Please complete this registration by Thursday, May 28th, 2026.

If your student will not be returning to Zionsville Community Schools next year, please complete the online student change form found here so that you won’t continue to receive registration notices.

Student Account Balances Student Account Balances

As we approach the end of the school year, please ensure that all consumable material fees and any outstanding food service balances are paid as soon as possible. Accounts that are not paid in full by May 28, 2026, may be sent to collections.

This special end-of-year learning celebration is designed to bring together exploration, connection, and fun in a truly memorable way.

Spring Identification for Advanced Curriculum Spring Identification for Advanced Curriculum

The Indiana Department of Education requires school districts to identify gifted students and provide them with appropriately differentiated curriculum and instruction. In ZCS, we consider ability and achievement data of all students each spring to identify any who may need advanced curriculum and/or instruction. This spring our team of teachers, licensed in gifted education, will look at all data to make sure that we understand the needs of each student.

Our school district is committed to continuous progress for all students, regardless of designation. Accelerated content is common in our classrooms as are heightened expectations, instructional levels and high-achieving peers. Whether or not a child is identified as needing advanced curriculum, our teachers are committed to regular assessment of skills and knowledge and matching experiences to challenge each child and help him or her make maximum academic growth.

For students currently in grades K-3: Programming at the elementary level is based on student need for acceleration and enrichment within a cluster group in a general education classroom and not on labels. All student data is reviewed each year to look for several indicators that a child needs advanced instruction in order to grow academically. Our identification team looks at achievement (NWEA), ability (CogAT) and teacher observational data (KOI/SIGS). Since these vary from year to year with young students, we re-look at every student each spring. Students who receive AC services this year will continue to receive those next year. Parents of newly identified students will be notified by June 5th if their child has been recommended for more advanced curriculum. If your child was not identified through our extensive process, parents/guardians may appeal the decision. Parents/guardians can complete the appeal process by June 15th. Forms are located on the Academics tab of our website under “Advanced Curriculum” Click HERE

For students currently in grade 4: All students are considered and more formally identified for high ability each year throughout middle school where they are placed in a class with high ability curriculum. Our identification team considers either achievement (NWEA) or ability (CogAT) when making decisions. Students who receive AC services in elementary will not receive notice and students will automatically be placed into high ability classes in middle school in their identified area. Parents of newly identified students will be notified by June 5th if their child has been recommended for differentiation based on the need for accelerated instruction and curriculum. If your child was not identified through our extensive process, parents may appeal the decision. Parents can complete the appeal process by June 15. Forms are located on the Academics tab of our website under “Advanced Curriculum”: Click HERE

Note: If your child is currently identified and receiving more advanced curriculum in grades 1-4, you will not receive an email because this placement will continue for the next school year.

Lunch Guests

We are ready to welcome lunch guests! Students and their guests will have lunch at designated locations in the front lobby area. Please no more than 2 guests per student due to limited space. So that others may have the opportunity, we ask that you not sign up more than 1 time per month. As we implement this new system/procedure, we will limit availability the first two weeks to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday visits.

Here's how it works:

  • Sign up for a reservation in advance using this link: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/BMELunchSchedule@zcsk12in.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ When you sign up, please be certain to complete all fields requested.
  • Bring a photo ID and arrive 5 minutes early (lunch times are listed on the signup form link above).
  • Your child will meet you in the front office area when they are ready.
  • HAVE FUN!

Visitors and Volunteers Visitors and Volunteers

During the school day, all volunteers are expected to check in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer's first volunteer experience, the individual must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check.. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days before the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state-mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee for the full background check which will expire after 5 years.

During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government-issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times. Visitors other than parents/guardians must be prearranged and organized through the main office.
