Hawk Highlights October
Hamburg Area Middle School

Hello Hawk Families,
It’s hard to believe we’ve already turned the calendar to October! The school year is off to a strong start, and we’re proud of the energy, curiosity, and kindness our students have shown these first few weeks. With routines settling in, October gives us a chance to celebrate growth, set new goals, and enjoy the fall season together.
This month brings a mix of learning and fun—class projects are in full swing, our fall sports teams are competing with heart, and we have some exciting events on the horizon. We’re also keeping our focus on building a positive school community, where every student feels seen, supported, and encouraged to do their best.
As always, thank you for being such an important part of our school family. We’re grateful for your partnership and look forward to all that October will bring!
Sincerely,

High Flying Hawks
🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
We love celebrating students who are making positive choices each day. That’s what our High-Flying Hawks program is all about!
Students who maintain zero demerits are randomly selected to earn the title of “High-Flying Hawk.” As a reward, they’re invited to enjoy a pizza lunch with the assistant principal and go home with a bag full of goodies to recognize their hard work and dedication.
This program is our way of shining a spotlight on students who consistently show respect, responsibility, and kindness in and out of the classroom. We are so proud of our Hawks who set the bar high and inspire others to do the same!

Jaden Leiby Visits HAMS
Hamburg students had the opportunity to meet a special young man who wants to use his story to help others.
Hamburg Middle School welcomed former football player Jaden Leiby this morning.
Leiby played football at Northern Schuylkill High School and became paralyzed from a spinal cord injury he suffered during his senior game six years ago.
Now, he's getting his education and trying to inspire kids to live their lives to the fullest.
"Just because of the simple fact we never know when something like this can happen, or if it can happen at all, and it's just a scary thing. So, just be present in life and enjoy the little moments," Leiby told the crowd.
He also thanked Hamburg School District for inviting him to speak.
