Hello Shields Families!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself before the start of the school year. I am Lea Russelle (Rus-SELL-EE) and I am thrilled to be your new principal! I don't know how much was shared about me so far. A brief intro to me is that I am an elementary teacher of 20 years, which includes teaching Kindergarten, first and second grades, K-8 ESL, and K-5 Math Instructional Coach. For the last 3 years, I was an assistant principal in U-46. I am super excited to meet you all and learn more about what makes Shields Elementary such an amazing school.🖤🤍
Please find me at Curriculum Night and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you all!
Gratefully,
Mrs. Lea Russelle

First Day of School
On the first day of school WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13th, all of our students meet in the back of the school. Teachers will be holding signs with their names on them.
A few reminders:
- Parents, please park in the front and on the side streets and walk around to the back.
- There is NO parking in the back of the school for parents. This is for staff and the bus drop off only.
- Please respect the No Parking signs at the corner of Snow St. and Grove St. Parking here makes it difficult for buses to turn into the lot.
- Busses will drop students off in the back of the building each day and they will enter Doors 5 or 6.
- Car line is in the front of the school. Please enter at the north entrance of the lot and pull all the way up before letting your child out. All students in the car line will enter door 1.
- KIPLA students will enter through Door 3 in the back if they are bus riders.
- There will be lots of extra adults outside to help students find their way.
