Connect with Dr. Hartloff
Hello Falcon Families!
Parent communication and connection between home and school is one of our top priorities here at UMS. This newsletter is your one-stop-shop for all things UMS. We recommend you take a few moments each week as a family to review the contents for upcoming activities and information to help you navigate each week.
Take care,
Dr. Hartloff, Principal

SOCIAL MEDIA CONCERNS: PLEASE TALK WITH YOUR STUDENT
Social Media Concerns: Please Talk With Your Student
We have had an uptick of social media accounts being used to spread rumors, make fun of people, or post hurtful things about other students. In order to address these types of accounts, Dr. Hartloff is sending out a video message to the student body this week. Mr. OD will follow up by visiting PE classes and reiterating the message.
Click HERE for the script of Dr. Hartloff's video message. Parents and guardians are an important part of the work we are doing to address this situation, and we appreciate you using the script as some talking points with your own children at home. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to make UMS a safe space where everyone feels like they belong.
UMS Report Card Night October 22
Join us for our Report Card Night on October 22 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. This is an opportunity for families and students to come and talk with their teachers about academic progress. Please keep in mind that this evening is designed for quicker check-ins with teachers, not lengthy conversations. If you would like to meet with certain teachers to have a follow-up conversation, you will be able to sign up for that opportunity during Report Card Night. Translation will be available. PTA will be selling food and spirit wear.
All teachers will be in the gym from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. Families can come at any time during that window to connect with teachers. Report Card Night replaced parent-teacher conferences at the middle school level last year.
We look forward to seeing you there!

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK OCTOBER 12-16
National School Lunch Week October 12-16
We are excited to celebrate National School Lunch Week (NSLW) from October 12–16!
This year’s celebration will bring a fun circus theme to our cafeterias as we celebrate school lunch and encourage our students to participate and enjoy their school meals.
Our Nutrition Services teams have been decorating to make this week special for our students. We would love your help in promoting National School Lunch Week at your school and encouraging students to participate.
Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to:
- Enjoy our special circus-themed school lunch menus.
- Participate in fun coloring activities.
Elementary schools will also have circus sunglasses available as prizes, and our secondary schools will have additional circus-themed giveaways for students.
Thank you for helping us make National School Lunch Week a fun and exciting celebration for our students and staff! Your support and encouragement make a big difference in helping students recognize and enjoy the meals provided by our Nutrition Services team.
We hope everyone has a fantastic and fun-filled National School Lunch Week!
