The Dawg Dispatch is your weekly behind-the-scenes look at the Aberdeen School District. From student achievements and classroom highlights to upcoming events and important announcements, we're keeping our families, staff, and community connected as we celebrate another blockbuster year. It's our time to shine!

BSMS 6th grade math students reviewed ratios, rates, and unit rates through an exciting game of basketball! Before earning points for their teams, students had to solve the problem and justify their answers using mathematical reasoning.

Learning, teamwork, and a little friendly competition made math a slam dunk!

Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Stegall’s 1st grade class had a POPPIN’ good time learning about adjectives!

Students used popcorn to explore words that describe—from how it looked and felt to how it smelled and tasted! What a fun, hands-on way to bring learning to life!

Great job, 1st grade!

During the gallery walk, students collaborated, shared ideas, and used text evidence to explore theme, summarize the story, and analyze Kitoto’s journey. Every student had a voice, every idea mattered, and meaningful learning happened all around the room!

Last week, Mrs. Bell and Ms. Lenoir’s first-grade class took their learning outside! As verbs were called out, students put their learning into action by demonstrating each one.

Our Superintendent challenged schools across the Aberdeen School District to participate in Culture Boosters—fun, unexpected moments designed to build excitement, strengthen relationships, celebrate our people, and remind us why we love being part of our district.

So, what did AES come up with for our August Culture Booster Challenge?

An AES Family Cookout—“We Are Family” style!

Our students and staff came together for food, fun, music, laughter, and lots of Bullpup spirit as we celebrated one of the things that makes AES so special—our FAMILY!

A HUGE thank you to all of our staff members who participated and helped bring our vision to life! Your energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to have a little fun made it even more special.

Mrs. Nichols does a great job with the Freshman Seminar class! Her lessons are real-world and engaging for students. She makes our career academy at AHS stronger and accentuates the purpose of what the Success Academy is about.

Mrs. Nichol’s freshmen seminar students have been working on professionalism!

They have focused on how their choices affect their success in school and the workplace.

They were taught how to tie a tie, how to give a 30s speech with eye contact, and how to perform a firm handshake.

Further, they created “Career Ties” and “Career Boards”.

Mark your calendars for the Aberdeen School District Alumni Tailgate & Day Party on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 1:00–6:30 p.m.

We want to reiterate that the 1:00–6:30 p.m. Day Party timeframe is intentional and has been established with safety in mind. The safety and well-being of our alumni, students, staff, and community remain a priority as we plan this celebration.

We know there will be questions about the event, and we want our alumni and community to be part of the conversation. A meeting will be held in September 2, 2026, to discuss the Alumni Tailgate & Day Party in greater detail, including plans, expectations, logistics, and other important information. Meeting details will be announced soon.

For now, SAVE THE DATE, spread the word, call your classmates, and start getting your crew together!
