Taps Across America

People across the country will honor America’s fallen service members on Memorial Day, but there's hope the observance will include a special nationwide musical performance. Last year, musicians were asked to play taps at 3 p.m. sharp. With Memorial Day parades & ceremonies canceled because of the pandemic, tens of thousands of buglers & trumpeters played to honor America’s patriots. It became one of the largest musical performances of all time. Love to hear if we have local performers.

Key Project Updates

Community Center membership has returned & we are happy to see our community getting back to normal. The "Small Town Effect" is at its best - Community Center employees who love helping our members at the center, follow them home to make their lives easier there too. The Center becomes that space that lets us provide support in ways it is needed. One of those opportunities is an Alzheimer Support Group to provide fitness to patients & respite for care givers; TriCounty Mental Health can use the center to provide support as needed this summer; Senior Center FItness classes return 6/1; Senior Congregate Meals are back 7/19; Working with ENEL at the WWTP to switch the plant to generator power so we have a standard practice of moving the plant off the power grid when needed; Bid opening is set for 6/4 for reconstruction of N. Jesse James & Meadowlark intersection & widening of N. Jesse James to support Miller Cabinet's expansion; there continues to be a good volume of planning/ development conversations for residential & commercial projects around town.
