GRAMMAR GAZETTE
September 2025 Edition

Thursday, November 13, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we move into the month of November, our school community is focusing on two important themes: honoring our veterans and practicing temperance. Temperance is the virtue of self-control, balance, and thoughtfulness in our actions.
On Tuesday, November 11, we took time to recognize Veterans Day, a moment to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. In our classrooms, we reflected on the importance of courage, service, and gratitude. Throughout the month, students will be learning about and practicing temperance, using good judgement, staying calm, and finding balance between our wants and our needs. We will be encouraging students to think before reacting, choose kind words, show patience when frustrated, and demonstrate balance in school and play.
Thank you for taking the time to connect with our teachers about your child's growth and goals during Parent Teacher Conferences. Your partnership makes a big difference. Student report cards will be mailed this week.
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 receive report cards using the following terms:
M-Mastery: The student currently demonstrates consistency and thorough mastery of multiple performance expectations for this grade level and/or a specific class, and extends beyond.
T-Target: The student currently demonstrates elements of grade level or class-specific performance and can progress toward those not yet demonstrated through following instructions.
S-Satisfactory: The student is on track to reach grade level or class-specific benchmarks by year’s end. Following instructions may progress independently, or may work best with structured guidance and support.
E-Emergent: The student is progressing toward a benchmark level of performance with continuous guidance and support following instructions.
ND-Not demonstrated: The student has not yet been engaged in the number of experiences that would allow him/her to demonstrate knowledge and skill in this area.
*Students in Grades 4-5 receive letter grades based on a 100-point scale as follows.
As the temperatures drop, please send students with labeled coats, hats, and gloves for outdoor recess.
November reminds us to pause and give thanks for our families, our freedoms, and our school community. Thank you to our Nova Parent Teacher Organization for bringing joy and togetherness during the School Carnival. Thank you to our parents and guardians for your on going support, engagement, and encouragement as we continue helping our students grow in heart, mind, and character.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Farrell

Dimes for Disasters
The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes outstanding scholars for excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. We are holding Dimes for Disasters this year to support those impacted by the detrimental effects of Hurricane Melissa on Jamaica as a Category 5 storm. The money raised will be donated to Direct Relief, who work to help those with medical issues either exacerbated or caused by the storm. The event will be held from 11/10 through 11/21. The grade that donates the most money will be rewarded with a Whole-grade Silly Head Day, where winners can find unique ways to decorate their head!
