🏫 What’s Happening at School
A note from the Principal...
Dear Abraham Lincoln Families,
As we move into November, it’s hard to believe how quickly the first part of the school year has gone by! Our students have settled into their routines, and it’s been wonderful to see so much growth, excitement, and engagement in classrooms across the school.
In just a couple of weeks, we’ll hold our Parent-Teacher Conferences, an important opportunity to connect and celebrate your child’s progress. These conversations are invaluable for strengthening the partnership between home and school—thank you in advance for taking the time to meet with your child’s teacher and for your continued support.
We’ll also take time this month to honor and recognize Veterans Day. Our school community is grateful for the service and sacrifice of all who have served in the armed forces. Students will be learning about the significance of this day and participating in age-appropriate activities to express our appreciation.
Throughout the remainder of the year, we will also be practicing our emergency drills to ensure that students and staff know what to do in case of an emergency. These drills—such as fire, evacuation, and lockdown procedures—are an important part of keeping everyone safe. We approach them with care and reassurance so students feel comfortable and confident while learning the importance of being prepared.
As we approach the holiday season, I continue to be thankful for our dedicated staff, supportive families, and the wonderful students who make our school such a special place to learn and grow.
~ Mrs. Ireland
PTO Highlights: Collaboration in Motion
Our annual Turkey Trot will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at Chapin Park! Students will run loops around the park, enjoying fun obstacles, games, and activities along the way. They’re also collecting pledges to support their participation—funds raised help make possible field trips, enrichment programs, and essentials like books, snacks, and winter clothing.
Please check your student’s red folder for their pledge form and help us reach our fundraising goals! We’re also looking for volunteers to help keep the event fun and safe for all students. If you’re available and approved to volunteer, please email abrahamlincolnschoolpto@gmail.com to sign up.

đź’ˇ Helpful Tips & Resources for Families
Celebrating National Native American Heritage Month
November is National Native American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate and learn about the rich histories, cultures, and traditions of Native American peoples. Throughout the month, our students will explore stories, art, and activities that honor the important contributions of Indigenous communities—past and present.
At the PreK–3 level, we focus on helping children appreciate diversity, kindness, and respect for all people. This month offers a wonderful opportunity to spark curiosity and build understanding about the first peoples of our nation and the lands we live on today.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home—reading picture books by Native authors, exploring music, or visiting local cultural sites together are great ways to keep learning and celebrating!
Smart Social
The Bangor School Department is partnering with Smart Social, an excellent resource that helps families navigate the digital world safely and confidently. Smart Social offers free tools, videos, and tips to help parents guide children in making positive choices online and using social media responsibly.
We encourage all families to explore these resources and start conversations at home about digital safety and balance. Check it out here: Smart Social
