*Please consider taking the following survey - we need to have a 20% response rate from parents in order to receive that feedback. We are currently holding at 6% for our school.*
Parents/guardians, students, and teachers across Illinois are invited to share their thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. This survey is a key tool in ongoing efforts to improve student learning and school conditions. District 95 highly values the insights and perspectives of parents/guardians; please complete the survey to assist in shaping the educational environment and experience for students.
Survey Participation Details:
Survey Period: January 30, 2024 - March 29, 2024
Who Will Participate: All teachers and fourth through 12th-grade students
Parent/Guardian Participation: All parents/guardians are encouraged to complete the survey. A 20% or higher response rate will generate a specific parent/guardian report.

Health Update
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced that it is adopting the updated guidance from the CDC to simplify recommendations for dealing with COVID-19 - effective Friday, March 1st. We have since received confirmation from the Lake County Health Department (LCHD) that school districts are free to move forward adopting the same guidance.
Please see below for changes to guidance for students who test positive for COVID:
Students who test positive for COVID “can return to normal activities when symptoms have been improving for 24 hours,” per LCHD
If there was a fever present, students may return to school once their fever has been gone for 24 hours without use of a fever-reducing medication
This updated guidance removes the mandatory 5-day isolation period, and instead focuses on symptom monitoring - which means that a student may be able to return to school in fewer than 5 days, or may be out more than 5 days (depending on the severity of their symptoms)
Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms of illness, and communicate with the school health office if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to implementing this adjusted, more flexible guidance with respect to COVID cases.
January Student of the Month
Each month, District 95 asks every building to select a student who represents our District Values of collaboration, continuous improvement, equity, high expectations, integrity, perseverance, and respect. For the month of January, Spencer Loomis chose First Grader, Abhi C.
Abhiram (Abhi) is an engaged, hardworking student who does everything with great effort and a huge smile on his face! He is an excellent role model for his peers as he participates consistently and is always willing to offer a helping hand. Abhi is not only safe, respectful, and responsible, but is also considerate and thoughtful! He is always one of the first students to congratulate or celebrate a peer’s success as well as offer compliments to his classmates. Abhi understands that a student’s goal includes learning, growing, and personal excellence. I am proud to be his first-grade teacher and am looking forward to seeing how he continues to grow throughout his time spent here at Spencer Loomis!
February Student of the Month
Each month, District 95 asks every building to select a student who represents our District Values of collaboration, continuous improvement, equity, high expectations, integrity, perseverance, and respect. For the month of February, Spencer Loomis chose Kindergartener, Adeline E.
Adaline is a kind and hardworking kindergartener. She loves to lend a hand in the classroom and is the first to volunteer to help. Adaline cares about her classmates and is so thoughtful. Over the snow and cold weather days, Adaline spent her time creating pictures for each of her classmates which she brought in for them to take home when we returned to school. She has quickly become a leader in the classroom and always sets a great example for her peers. Way to go Adaline!
