HMS News
A Penny for Your Thoughts . . .
While the penny may be getting phased out of daily use, HMS just poured thousands back into circulation with our annual Grade Six Penny War!
Over the course of about a week, grade six teams competed to see who could collect the most coins (and other some bills) to be donated to local families in need of assistance during the holidays, and again this year they came through in a big way!
After putting the coin counting machine at a local bank to the test, the results of this friendly competition are in!
In third place, collecting an impressive $145, are the Ancient Greeks.
With a donation of $259, the Romans claimed second place.
Which means the Vikings have won this year's Penny War by donating an incredible $332!
Because of the generosity of our sixth graders and the HMS community, we are able to add $736 to the donations already received, which will go to help Hingham families during the holidays!
Great work grade six!

HMS is Here to Help
We understand that making ends meet can be difficult for some families in our HPS community. Therefore, we want to let you know that there are individuals in each of our schools who are ready to provide information and assistance. Resources may be available to help families in times of financial need or other challenging situations. Our particular area of outreach is for food support for the upcoming holidays.
Please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, the school nurse, or counseling personnel at your child's school if you are in need of food support for the holidays. Rest assured that your request will be managed in a way that respects your rights to confidentiality.
