KMS NEWSLETTER
Dear Kodiak Middle School Families,
We want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and communication during recent events. Your partnership is invaluable, and we encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns—our doors are always open.
As the holiday season approaches, please keep in mind the importance of attendance during MAP testing on December 10–12. These assessments play a key role in tracking student progress, and having all students present is critical. We appreciate your efforts to schedule travel plans around these dates.
Additionally, we’re excited to announce that locker assembly for Kodiak Middle School is underway! KIBSD Maintenance has begun assembling the 500 new lockers, and we anticipate approximately 300 hours of assembly time. Volunteer support is warmly welcomed. Training/work sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5–7 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM–2 PM, starting this Saturday, November 16. Feel free to reach out to Judith Bruns at 907-486-7464 or judith.bruns@kibsd.org for questions and/or weekday assembly opportunities.
Thank you for being an essential part of the Kodiak Middle School community!

MR. STEELE'S INDUSTRIAL ARTS CLASS
KMS Industrial Arts students are diligently breaking down pallets and repurposing the wood to create end tables! Students are working at six stations: Sawzall pallets apart, nail punch, miter saw, table saw into 1 ½” strips, plane the wood smooth, and back to the miter saw to cut into 12” pieces.
This is the largest project of the semester and all classes/students are working hard every day to complete before the holidays!
THE ART OF GAMES WITH MRS. KING
The juggling class creates custom juggling sets by filling balloons with sand sourced from Mission Beach, carefully sealed inside food bags for durability and balance.
