December 8, 2023

Dear Mary Hogan Families,

Mary Hogan students this week showed their Hawk Pride by getting into our Thursday Spirit Day. The kindergarten came up with Wrap It Up in a Bow Day, and students wore bows in their hair, rainbows on their clothes, and some sported some spiffy bow ties. It was a fun spirit day and a new one that students across school were into.

The spirit days are typically the first Thursday of each month and are so fun to see how each grade creatively challenges us to come together on a theme. Next month, the 1st grade will choose the spirit day on 1/4. That is the first Thursday we are back after December break, so be sure to be on the look out for what it is!

Be well,

Jen

December Update from Spanish

Hola estimadas familias:

In Spanish class, students continue practicing basic sentences to express their desires, likes, dislikes, needs and preferences. Also, students are going to practice more on how to ask questions. Students are going to create mini stories to have fun learning vocabulary about animals, sports and activities in the community. Check new information, stories, videos and songs on my website at MHS. Enjoy it! ¡Qué la disfrutes!

Con cariño,

Señora Jiménez

To rainbows and bow ties! Mary Hogan was all wrapped up!

Families can borrow games from the Mary Hogan Library!

We are happy to set up accounts for parents/guardians so that you can take materials home to share with your child(ren). Our preference is that an adult pick up the game and return it so that pieces don't get lost in backpacks. There are many math and literacy games that can be checked out to families so come on in and check one out!

They are produced by doctors and psychologists. The topics include "How to Help Youth Manage Their Media Intake," "Don't Let Screens Split Up the Family," and more! The videos are less than 7 minutes long and might give you new insight into how your children are impacted by screens. Check it out!
