Message from Administration
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the home stretch with the finish line in sight, it is important to remember what we value most here at OMS: our respect for one another, our responsibility to act as upstanders, and our readiness to remain positive and prepared for what lies ahead.
With the end of the school year approaching, we are excited to offer students the opportunity to participate in a number of fun and engaging experiences. This time of year is a chance for us to celebrate our successes together. Our goal is to provide a safe and respectful environment for everyone, and participation in these events is a privilege earned, not a right. Each student should continue to navigate their personal challenges in middle school to meet the high standards and expectations set before them. We are almost there, and it is essential that we all continue to uphold these expectations both in and out of the classroom, especially as the feeling of fatigue sets in.
Please remember that if a student is disruptive, disrespectful, or unkind, they will have removed themselves from one or more experiences.
We believe that every one of our students has the ability to rise to the occasion! It truly takes a village, and we appreciate the reinforcement you have provided throughout this school year in helping us uphold our 3 R’s: Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness.
Sincerely,
OMS Administration Team

This session is designed specifically for parents, caregivers, and guardians to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface as your child navigates one of the most transformative years of adolescence going into 7th grade.
We’ll explore:
Emotional and physical changes typical of 7th grade
Academic Expectations and Curriculum Shifts of 7th grade students
Shifting friendships, identity development, and independence
How these changes impact behavior and learning
How OMS supports students during this critical time
Community Resources that are available for parents/guardians/caregivers can access.
Let’s partner to support our seventh graders as they grow through this exciting, and sometimes awkward, stage of life.
Booster Bash Color Splash
On Monday, May 12th, students participated in the Booster Bash Color Splash event. Take a look below at photos from the event! Thank you so much for participating in the Booster Bash Color Splash fundraiser this year! We reached our goal of raising $15,000!
Scholastic Art Award
This year we had two students submit artwork to the Scholastic Art Awards, Keniel Mercado Cruz grade 8 and Courtnie Garland grade 7. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are regional awards that help recognize creative talent and expression in teens and is run through the Museum of Fine Arts. They offer 28 categories to submit work to. They have the opportunity to win awards or even scholarship money. Keniel submitted two pieces in the Drawing and Illustration category titled “Absent Minded and Burnout”. He was awarded the Silver Key award for "Burnout". This is a large accomplishment as he was chosen out of thousands of students who submitted in the region. We presented his certificate and Silver Key pin to him at the team meeting.
Bus Registration is OPEN for 25-26
Bus registration for the 2025-2026 school year will begin at 4pm on Monday, May 5 and continue until Tuesday, June 17 – the last day of school. Students entering grades K-12 are eligible to apply.
The School Committee voted to bring back the bus fees for the 2025-2026 school year. The cost to ride the bus is $375.00 per student with a family cap of $750.00.
Massachusetts General Law requires school departments to provide transportation for any student in Grades K-6 who live more than 2 miles from their assigned school. If your student is planning on taking the bus, you still MUST complete a bus application, even if you live more than 2 miles for their assigned school.
Parents/guardians will access the bus application in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Instructions on how to register can be found on our website.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Parents must complete a bus application EVERY YEAR for EACH CHILD. Students are not automatically placed on a bus for the following year.
- Bus applications will be processed in the order they are received. There are limited seats and we cannot guarantee all students that meet the deadline will be placed on a bus. We will not have a waiting list or reopen the application in the fall!
If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department via email at Transportation@stoughtonschools.org.
Grade 8 Class Day
The 8th Grade Class Day Promotion Ceremony will take place on Monday, June 16, 2025 at noon in the Stoughton High School Auditorium.
Because there is limited seating in the auditorium, each 8th grader will receive two (2) tickets for in-person guests to the ceremony. The event will be livestreamed for other family members to watch live.
The 8th Grade Class Day Ceremony celebrates the successful completion of the middle school program. More specific details will follow as the date approaches.
