TCCA Sessions Recap

Thank you so much for all of the great feedback you have been providing. We are happy to announce that a large number of sessions will remain online for you to continue to view. The Keynote is no longer available and a handful of other sessions were taken down Friday, but the majority are available for you to watch.

Though we can not provide further PD credits, we do encourage you to go back and watch some of the sessions you might have missed. I know we have been binge-watching them all!

To watch, it's exactly the same. Go to tcca2020.sched.com, navigate to the session you want to watch, and then click the video stream button. Be sure to thank our rock star presenters on social media for allowing their sessions to remain online!

You can add your TCCA certificates along with any other outside PD into PowerSchool. Here is a video that shows you from the Professional Learning Team.

Home Access Center Average Alerts

Parents can elect to receive average alerts from HAC (only parents that choose to subscribe to these in HAC get them - not all parents).

When parents subscribe to Course Grade alerts the teacher now also receives a copy of what is being sent so they know which parents are getting what. These parents set the grade threshold at which they want to be notified. The alert goes out on Tuesday and Friday evenings alerting them that their child's grade average in the course is within the range they have chosen for the notification.

District had disabled the alerts for R1 and they have been turned on for R2 starting this week. It was decided to have the teachers receive a copy of the alert as well in an effort to help address the concern with the district's failure rate.

Google Slides & Video Options

When you Insert - Video in Google Slides you have Formatting Options! You can have the video start and stop at a certain point in the video. You can have the video autoplay when presenting, and you can mute the audio if you would rather speak during the video. Resize the video using width and height settings or drag the corner sizing handles on the video.

CLEAR CACHE AND COOKIES

Your browser tends to hold onto information, and over time it could cause problems with logging in or bringing up websites. It’s always a good idea to clear out the cache, or browser history, and clear cookies on a regular basis. The drawback to this is that your saved usernames and passwords will be deleted and you’ll need to re-enter them. But on the plus side, your privacy is more secure and your browser will work better. ~Verticle Response

SHOUT OUT!

Melinda Mosby is the theatre teacher at Garcia Middle School. She is using WeVideo collaboration with the students to edit videos. This is a great way to foster student collaboration, communication, and engagement while teaching students virtually and in person. She also used Flipgrid for a makeup competition and the students did an amazing job! Way to go Ms Mosby!

Do you want a WeVideo account? Sign up in Schoology to get you and your class access.
