Course Selection Information for the 2026-27 School Year
Current P-CEP Students: Grades 9-11
Hello P-CEP Families,
We are beginning the process of selecting courses for the 26-27 school year. During the week of February 18th, into the following week, students will be choosing their courses with the support of counselors, teachers and parents. The MiStar course selection window will be open from February 18 - February 26, 2026 at midnight. Counselors will be available on February 19th, 24th and 26th during ALL THREE LUNCHES to support student questions and/or concerns. On the 18th, students will be able to enter their choices for next year’s courses. Our hope is that over the weekend, you will spend some time looking at the attached materials. We want students to have the chance to ask their teachers questions during the week and learn about which courses are recommended for them.
This email includes two videos for you and your student to watch. One is a reminder about: “How to Enter Courses” and the other is a video explaining graduation requirements and the P-CEP Curriculum. The Course Catalog is always a great resource. Please note that if your student is looking to create a schedule in the Virtual Academy, the courses are very limited and may require students to take 1-2 courses via Michigan Virtual for electives.

REMINDER: Counselors will be available on February 19th, 24th and 26th during ALL THREE LUNCHES to support student questions and/or concerns. Students may attend a help session in any building. We will also have some homeroom time for specific grade levels during the open window. Homeroom teachers will have this information. Please do not forget that you will have an individual meeting with your counselor in March!
Thank you so much for your time! While we know this is an exciting time, we also know it can be stressful! Just know that your counselors and teachers are here to support you and your child!
Canton High School is an official lending partner for the Michigan Humanities Council Great Michigan Read. This year's book, Everything I've Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant, is by author Curtis Chin. Curtis grew up in Michigan, where part of his childhood was spent in his family's restaurant in Detroit's Chinatown. The book is a coming-of-age story about Curtis, his family's restaurant, and Detroit's history during the 1970s and 80s. As a lending partner, CHS can offer students free books to read. However, quantities are limited. Please stop by room 256, Canton, if you are interested.

Michigan Safe Storage Law
Safety and Inclusion at P-CEP
In order for students to learn and build healthy relationships with peers and staff they must be safe. We work hard to have a safe and inclusive environment for ALL students at the Park, and we take student safety very seriously. We also recognize that there can be times where students need support for a negative experience they have experienced, and we wanted to remind families of the resources we have for students.
If someone has experienced harassment, bias or discrimination, they should report to their counselor, caseload AP, or any other trusted staff member. All staff are invested in and trained to be trusted adults and to properly support students. We also have an anonymous tool for reporting that goes directly to administration if students feel more comfortable reporting for themselves or a peer. This form is also always included at the bottom of the Family Communication: Hate & Bias reporting form
This dedication to an inclusive, safe environment is also supported by district policy and vision:
P-CCS K-12 Student handbook 25-26
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
The Board of Education complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations, as well as the requirements and regulations of the U.S. Department of Education, with regard to prohibitions against discrimination
The following are expectations for all students regarding complaints of harassment.
STEP ONE: If you witness disrespectful behavior, tell the person to stop. Apathy, silence, or laughter encourages abuse and further disrespects the victims. Inform an adult in school and your parents each time an incident occurs. To the extent appropriate and/or legally permitted, confidentiality will be maintained during the investigation process. Further, students will not be disciplined for making a good-faith complaint.
STEP TWO: If the behavior doesn’t stop, contact an administrator as soon as possible to initiate a complaint.
STEP THREE: If the behavior continues, keep your parents and school staff members informed.
